A mouse in the house

This is a dangerous time of year in our house - or at least it used to be. Around this time of year we would normally be slipping and sliding in mouse entrails and clearing up feathers. My husband calls it the Killing Season. So far though, we're not seeing a lot of action. With poor Baloo and Pandora cats both no longer with us, Bagheera has a lot to live up to - and if this evening's action is anything to go by, he's not keeping up standards. I just went upstairs to find my laptop and discovered a big, fat, rather scared mouse on the stairs, trying to jump up the wall. Bagheera was in the kitchen eating kitty biscuits, having abandoned his confused new friend. Hubby caught it in a pint glass and released it in the garden. Bagheera seems to have completely forgotten about his mouse.

@boiboing they do seem to lose interest before the job's done.

I think when there's not another cat around to act as a threat to the original catcher, they don't feel the need to finish the job. It was a bit fat critter and full of fight. Maybe it punched him on the nose.

I am glad that Willy, the cat of my neighbor, does snot chase the birds anymore, but still chases the lizards. I will teach to let them alone.
