Weight loss

I really want to start losing weight but I hate exercise and love junk food, so it is quite the conundrum. I have thought about trying DDP Yoga it seems people have gotten great results from it, I am worried to about my back problems preventing some of the exercise. Perhaps a diet is better, but I hate the word diet and I really can't starve myself that won't happen. Any advice to someone like me?

Walking is good exercise and really helps get the weight off. Just cut back on the amount you eat. Everything in moderation just do the overdo it.

What is DDP Yoga? I do like yoga and it helps me with strength, balance, flexibility. It helps my back. I did have some lessons with good instructors so I sort of know what I should and shouldn't do. More instruction would be good but expensive!

I knew someone whose back problem disappeared after he lost weight - his only exercise was walking. - coupled of course with healthy eating. You could follow a diet plan which could include your favorite junk food once a week or once a month.

i wrote this awhile ago in another post and this holds true. You can't out train a bad diet. So you definitely need to have better nutrition and diet choices. As for the exercise program, pick out something that you enjoy doing.

@chrissbergstrom slow and steady wins the race.Start walking.Because of your back problem,no strenuous exercise. Also, you just have to reduce the portions of food plus as @andriaperry suggested cut off sugar, bread and potatoes.

The one way to do it is cut the junk and exercise..thats about all I know to do. In the last year I have lost 35 lbs, some it due to stress about my Mom being sick. What I did was walk not too far about a mile each day and just try to cut out so much junk. It is not that I don't still eat junk I do, just not the whole bag of stuff you know? Wish you luck. Depression I suffer from so I get it.

@chrissbergstrom I cannot stand counting calories..it does not work for me. It makes me crazy as everything is so much calories except lettuce ...lol I found the most helpful thing was walking, if you can do it unless you have bad knees or something. It is so hard to go out though, with the depression, but when you can, you cannot feel worse for it, it helps the mind somehow. Just don't eat tons of donuts or anything haha. Everyone needs protein, so like eggs if you like them, some lean meat like grilled chicken seems to fill people up and a salad I like...you can eat lots of salad because its not fattening. Just dont use the whole jar of dressing. Not tons of potatoes, bread, starchy stuff try to avoid. I do eat some but just not a lot.

I have seriously wondered if we should not have a weight loss thread. I have a walkimg apo that tells me what distance I walked and a bike I have not yet used. There are apps that tell you what calories are in food. Now if we could just stop eating. Seriously though. If you cut milk out of coffee and tea it helps.

@chrissbergstrom Me too. My food triggers are chips, tacos and chocolate. I was told to get the mini candies instead of a bar. Nope. It's less calories for me to eat the bar then all the minis in the bag.

Diet does not seem to be effective because it is only for a short period of time..and after you finish the diet, you go back to the old habits and to the old weight .You should have a healthy lifestyle...I think that's the only way you can lose weight...and if you're lazy you will never lose weight

I am totally in the same boat with you.! I am not dieting..but i am trying to gradually cut down my junk food intake (since doing it suddenly will not work) and potion control. Drinking more fluids DURING meals helps too. The word 'exercise' makes me feel quite reluctant to do it...so i just but on some good music and dance in the privacy of my own room. It helps get you tired if you really get into it.

That is a good idea I love music and enjoy dancing even if I am bad a it. I think joining a dance class for beginners might be fun I need to look into that.
