What if you are the eleventh person?

Mum rang because she needed a call from the doctor about her leg and my Dad keeps having chest pains. He already saw a paramedic this week. She cannot drive to the surgery and my Father is in a wheelchair. He cannot visit the surgery. The surgery know this. They need a home visit. Actually, all Mum was asking for was a phone call. Nothing happened. No call for over 24 hours from the doctor. Then my Mum rang again.and complained. Eventually the doctor called and explained they are only allowed to make ten telephone calls a day. So if you are sick, you had better not be the eleventh person on the list that day whatever your problem is.

I suspect this is a policy for many practices.

That is a mess. It seems there are no good places to live if you are sick and need medical attention.

Lliving in the UK I am usually grateful for our free medicak services. This policy will not have come from the doctors.

I cannot believe this! What if the 11th person is someone having a heart attack?

That's ridiculous! That's no way to treat your patients.

Couldn't she have asked for a telephone consultation, rather than a phone call? That way, surely she gets a call at a designated time {well, between such a time and such a time}.

It is the same thing.

@Jackalyn Then you need to complain. If you've been offered a telephone consultation that's the same as an appointment and if they can't offer more than ten of these a day then they shouldn't be! Mum needs to write to the Practice Manager and make a complaint so it doesn't happen again.

I think this can be complained. It can be a case of neglect of the client.
