Bridges scare me even though I think they are awesome

Yes I am a bit nervous driving or walking over high bridges. I guess i am not fond of heights and while I am in awe of some of the bridges I see and love to take pictures of them I kinda have to do it with one eye open. Of course this is while I am in the passenger seat. The bridge in the photo is the Alex Fraser bridge and one of the many bridges in Vancouver. Are you afraid of heights?.

I would have done the same. Recently he walked over a swinging bridge in the forest while watched from a safe distance.

I can watch if I am in a safe enclosed place but not out in the open

@Freelanzer maybe your anxiety stemmed from a childhood stress that you were not able to confront, especially open and close spaces, and even heights.

I used to have a friend who was afraid to drive over on bridges. I am afraid of heights but have not driven over a high bridge in years so not sure if I am afraid or not. I remember going over the Mississippi bridge and wasn't afraid.

It's more the height I think than anything else and it doesn't help when it is also a high speed highway

I hate heights although I love flying! I walked across the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco although I doubt I would want to do it now. My fear of heights has got worse over the years!

No, I am not afraid of heights but most people are afraid of something. I just cannot think of what I am afraid. You are quite brave with how you feel about heights to be getting close to that bridge to take a picture. I have been to Vancouver but do not rremember bridge. I was downtown.

the mrt here (light rail transit) crosses the pasig river which is only a few seconds yet i still hold my breath when it does. however, if i'm riding a bus or private car and pass the same river, i hardly notice it.

I can handle light rail transit a bit better maybe because I feel safer and it is more enclosed

I am not afraid of bridges, I too think they look beautiful and I enjoy crossing them. Haven't seen the one in Vancouver but here in Ontario we have a lot of them. I was hoping they were going to put one across Lake Ontario, there was talk of that years ago from somewhere in the Niagara area to the other side (east) of Toronto. I would use that all the time if it ever happened just to miss the traffic of Toronto. I do get a bit squeamish while on my feet in very tall buildings...

I do know others who love driving over bridges but I don't think I will ever enjoy it.

I've crossed some bridges that have given me the creeps. I drove over the Golden Gate Bridge years ago but it didn't bother me. But, yes, heights do make me nervous.

Driving or being driven is a problem for me. If I am not driving I can always close my eyes
