Pork, pork, and more pork

When I go to the grocery store, I usually stock up on meat based on whatever is on sale. I don't go with specific things on the list unless I have a recipe that I am testing out that week. Anyway, this week I was hoping to get some steak for tacos since we are just back from Mexico and in the mood for that type of food. There was nothing in the case that was reasonably priced so I didn't get any beef at all. What I did wind up with was a lot of pork. They had these hormone-free, antibiotic-free pork tenderloins for just $2 each. I grabbed all 3 of them. Then I selected a package of pork chops ($4) and a pork-loin end roast ($3). Luckily I have lots of chicken and a package of skirt steak in my freezer already so it won't be all pork all the time this week. That's the way it goes, though, when you buy only what is on sale or the cheapest each week. Some weeks I stock up on beef and, well, this week it was pork.

Yum! I haven't had ribs in awhile. We will fire up our smoker soon and do a pork butt and some ribs.

Thats basically what we do but is mostly ground beef and chicken here. Once in awhile we'll find a cheap good looking piece of steak but not often.

I catch weeks where the beef is cheaper than chicken. It always seems strange to me.

I like pork. I do, however, tend to go for the tenderloins more than the porkchops. I like to stock up on meats when they are Buy one Get One or Buy 2 Get 3.

Yes, I certainly did! I'm not a huge fan, but that was what was cheapest this week so that's what I went with.

Pork loins were on sale at Winn Dixie yesterday when I did our grocery shopping. It's a hormel pre seasoned one. We always get the hormone free chicken, and then this week Tilapia was on sale so we will probably have fish tacos one night. We also got beef for beef stew.

Fish tacos are great! I'll probably do chicken tacos this week.
