Royal Tea

Tea & Slice

As it was sunnier than forecast, this morning, I pedalled off to Old Windsor and a visit to the Windsor Farm Shop. The shop is owned by 'The Firm' of Liz and Phil, who when not doing Head of State things, live in the big castle at Windsor... sometimes. Not only is it a good shop for fresh produce, but it has a little cafe, which seems to be popular with cyclists. I enjoyed an Earl Grey tea, along with a custard slice, to boost the energy levels. It must have worked as I was one mile an hour faster on the journey home! Trying out a camera mounted on the handle bar, which should be a bit steadier. The video runs through the villages of Horton and Datchet and finishes at the farm shop. https://youtu.be/_vln5vEewss

@Ronrybs What YouTube degraded it? Sods..well it still looked fab to me but I know what you mean. Oh yes one more slice would have done you fine hahah.

The video isn't as I imputted. YouTube steadied the image and it is degraded slightly. I won't be using that next time! I could easily have eaten another slice, maybe I would have gone even faster!

Are the prices normal or extra high because you're on royal ground?

@Ronrybs What a shame considering how much money the Royals have in their coffers. :-)

The tea was a little more than your average tea shop and the slice was about half as much again, but tasty!

@Ronrybs This is what I tell to myself most of the time AFTER I had a pastry. You burned the calories riding your bike.

We'd call this Vanilla Slice and it is one of my favourites. Lucky you!

@Ronrybs Ours have thick custard then quite thick icing on top. I think I'll have to take a short break and get something to eat!

To me a vanilla slice is similar, but without custard. Vanilla cream of some sort, I think

@TheInvisibleMan I think it was vanilla custard. It didn't really last too long...

I pop in a couple of times a year, it is on the way to Virginia Water, but there is a killer hill on the way. Don't take it too often!

That sounds good. Haven't had a custard slice in years! And I'm hoping the 'green cup' can actually be recycled?

They are proud of their 'green' credentials. On my last couple of visits, its been tea in proper china cups!

yay! new video! Thanks for the ride to the Windsor Farm Shop! I fell in love with some of the buildings along the way and even held my breath once as you were making a turn and traffic was coming! That custard slice looks so delicious and I had to laugh at your tea cup that clearly states "I'm a green cup" even while it's purple! (and yes, I do know what it means). It just struck me! Thank you so much for the new video.
