Survivor's Guilt ~ Part One

It is very sad to lose a loved one. When I was in my mid 20's I met a man named Mark who I dated for quite awhile. He was such a unique person. He loved to hunt and be out hiking with his dog Seven, a black lab. He had a great personality. I remember partying with him one night. We were at a friend's house and he had gotten pretty drunk. We were setting in the living room talking and suddenly we wondered where Mark was. We looked around and looking down the hallway I see his boots and half his legs on the floor lying just outside one of the bedrooms. He had passed out. I just remember it was so funny to look down the hallway and all you can see is half his legs and his boots sticking out the door. He would come and pick me up from my job as a cocktail waitress. He would throw cherry stems at me as I moved around the room waiting on customers. One night he came in his roommate's Corvette Stingray to pick me up. The front end of the car needed a realignment so it wasn't driving real well but he felt it was just a short run to pick me up and then take me home. So I finish work and we get in the car and start home. A purple Barracuda pulls up beside us at a light and the driver revs it's engine. In those days that was a signal as to whether the other person wanted to race. Mark was not one to back down or away from a challenge so they took off racing down the road. Just then there is a cloud burst and rain flooded the streets making them rather slick.

I wouldn't go out with him at first. But he kept at me. Sent me flowers when my excuse for not going out with him was that I didn't feel well. He was a dear person.

@celticeagle He sure sounds like he was special Celtic. It is sad to think of what may have happened with you two or what he may have become in life, so young to leave.

@TiarasOceanView .....Way too young. I am often curious what would have happened to him and us.
