I cannot imagine that such a thing can happen in my neighboring country. In Malaysia, this school boy who stayed in school hostel was beaten by the assistant warden for making noise. For reason unknown, he was not sent to hospital right after the severe beating. He was sent to hospital a couple of weeks after the event. He was warded in hospital, had both his legs amputated, got an infection, and then died. This is very sad. It is such a horrible way to die. I feel sorry for his parents. Nobody sends their children to school to get a severe beating, and then sees the children die so painfully.
KUALA LUMPUR — Mohamad Thaqif Amin Mohd Gadaffie, who had both legs amputated last week due to alleged abused by an assistant warden at a Johor religious school, died on Wednesday (April 26). According to The Star Online news portal, the 11-year-old’s deat

I think it is a shame. But not only for the beating but also because, as you say, the parents did not take measures for helping the child afterwards.

Yes, the parents trust the school too much. They probably think that a bit of spanking is good for discipline, and they did not bring the son to see a doctor. The parents will spend their lives regretting the decision not to take their son seriously when he complaint about it.

@marguicha Definitely. I think for most parents who see the abuse their children is getting in school, they will not hesitate to go to school and beat up the warden.

@scheng1 A beating such as that one surely would not be something that a child would be able to hide. The parents were very much responsible, as much as the beast who beat the child.

What a shocking thing to do to a child. I hope the assistant warden is dealt with severely. That poor child.

@JudyEv Yes, I think those boys beaten by him will hate schools forever. I sure did not like going to school when I was young, and that was even without the beating.

@scheng1 There doesn't seem a better punishment. He really deserves to die for his heartless crime.

@scheng1 I had the same thought like you. I would do something illegally, too. I know it is wrong for me to do so but I can't let it go. In this aspect I am not generous at all.

I also cannot imagine why the parents do not take action. If I were the mother, I would kill the guy! Apparently this school boy kept a diary, and he wrote about getting beaten all the time. He asked for transfer, but his parents did not take any action.

@youless I think the parents will have to live with a guilty conscience for the rest of their lives.

@amadeo The parents are at fault too. They should have taken action instead of just ignoring it.

Malaysia is not strictly speaking a third world country, yet such things happen. While the teachers are allowed to spank children in some schools, they will use rulers, and not a hose to do that.

This is very sad. I wonder how the parents must be feeling. What kind of warden is that? He must have beaten the boy so harshly for him to get an infection. The parents should look into the matter and get the warden arrested if guilty

The parents are at fault too. The beating has been going on for a long time, and the boy had asked his parents to transfer him out, but they never took any action.

I cannot believe that it happens in Malaysia. I can understand if this happens in very poor countries, but not in Malaysia. Very sad.

@LadyDuck Apparently the abuse has been going on for a long time, and it happened to all the boys. I bet the students told their parents, but their parents did nothing about it.
