Urinetown: The Musical - My Favorite Musical

Urinetown: The Musical, Just hearing the title makes one laugh, but imagine a time where everyone in the world has to quite literally pay a fee in order to go pee. Here is a brief Synopsis of the play: "Winner of three Tony Awards, three Outer Critics Circle Awards, two Lucille Lortel Awards and two Obie Awards, Urinetown is an hilarious musical satire of the legal system, capitalism, social irresponsibility, populism, bureaucracy, corporate mismanagement, municipal politics and musical theatre itself! Hilariously funny and touchingly honest, Urinetown provides a fresh perspective on one of America's greatest art forms. In a Gotham-like city, a terrible water shortage, caused by a 20-year drought, has led to a government-enforced ban on private toilets. The citizens must use public amenities, regulated by a single malevolent company that profits by charging admission for one of humanity's most basic needs. Amid the people, a hero decides that he's had enough and plans a revolution to lead them all to freedom! Inspired by the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, Urinetown is an irreverently humorous satire in which no one is safe from scrutiny. Praised for reinvigorating the very notion of what a musical could be, Urinetown catapults the "comedic romp" into the new millennium with its outrageous perspective, wickedly modern wit and sustained ability to produce gales of unbridled laughter." Urinetown was a lot of fun, but it was also very, very challenging. I really was never a good singer, nor could I really learn dance steps very well. But it was perhaps the most talented cast i have ever been apart of, the singers in this play we're extraordinary aside from myself and a few others. There was great costuming and it was just a lot of fun. Here is a photo of me with some of the cast during our performance

@chrissbergstrom I do hope it comes to town. We have lots of regional theaters and some pretty famous ones here. My younger son's fiancée is Director of Education at one and works as a writer, producer, director, stage manager, etc. at another theater involved with diversity. Perhaps she can look into it.

What's neat is it is a rather recent play as it first came out in 2001, most of the musicals that are usually performed are decades old, this one did very well on broadway.

@chrissbergstrom -its against the law here in cali, but i have seen it just a handful of times. the only thing i know of that comes close to this is the showers in truck stop areas. a fee is charged to use a personal shower that also has restroom amenities, but that i understand.
