I Knew It Was Coming

Last Monday morning, my youngest sister texted me. She informed me that our cousin died already.
He was the third son of 4 children by my father’s sister. He was an alcoholic since the past years.
He would be drinking alcohol the whole day and the next days. His friends would come to their house with a bottle and would drink until they were so drunk and would leave our cousin drunk too.
He actually lost his mind because of his alcoholism. A nurse would always go to their house to see how he is doing and see if his medications are religiously taken. But he cannot be stopped from drinking alcohol.
And last Good Friday, he was again drunk . The Saturdays before that he was drunk and was soaked in the rain for many hours despite telling him to go home and change to dry clothes.
So when my sister texted me that he was dead, I told her “I knew it was coming to that, may he rest in peace”.
Tomorrow, I shall be on leave of absence from the office to attend his burial.
It is so sad, that he had a wasted life because of alcoholism at his mid 40’s.

may his soul rest in peace, and condolence, my lady. was he depressed or broken-hearted? or it was really his vice for a long time now? did he die of liver cirrhosis?

@SIMPLYD maybe the liquor that he drank 'goes to his head and not in his stomach' because he did those actions of hurting physically his family.
also, he may not have eaten when he drank liquor that was why his gastric mucosa bled.
it may be active UGIB and can no longer be managed with blood transfusions.

@SIMPLYD I am sorry to hear that. I wonder if his lack of employment made him depressed thus he hung out with the wrong crowd and drank away.

Yes. He can't quit because his friends would always go to their house and bring liquor. He is so kind that he cannot say No.

Thank you.
Though, his mother and sisters and brother were wishing for him to die already, because he is a nuisance to the neighbors and to them , whenever he is so drunk. He would punch his sister when they try to tell him to stop drinking.
Now, the there will be no one who can hurt them anymore.
