We have reached #5 in my Favorite "( )" Songs series, which is songs with parentheses in the title. The parentheses must contain actual lyrics. @FourWalls is doing both a rock and a country countdown just like this, so check those out as well. The fifth spot is an obvious choice: "Break on Through (to the Other Side) by The Doors. Named for Aldous Huxley's book, The Doors of Perception, The Doors formed in Los Angeles in 1965, and despite the 1971 death of frontman Jim Morrison, lasted until 1973. From 1967 to 1971, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's had seven of eight albums hit the Top 10 and go platinum or better. They have sold over 100 million albums worldwide. From their 1967 self-titled debut ( which is in the Grammy Hall of Fame and the Library of Congress National Recording Registry,) "Break on Through (to the Other Side)" was Doors' first single. The song performed poorly, stalling at #126 on the Billboard Hot 100 (24 years later, it reached #64 in the UK.) "Break on Through" has been covered by Stone Temple Pilots, Bush (their version was never officially released,) and Hollywood Vampires. Additionally, Blondie performed the song live in the late 90's. Despite it's poor chart performance, "Break on Through (to the Other Side)" is classic Doors, one of their most popular tunes. If you are of a certain age, there are very big odds that you know it. If you don't, now is the time to get to know it. Enjoy! (Info verified by Wikipedia)

You got that right about its poor chart performance meaning nothing. This is a Doors classic.

I know. If Morrison and Manzarek were still alive and the band were still performing, you'd walk out disappointed if they didn't play this.

Not sure if this or "Light My Fire" was my fire Doors song, but it's one I dance around to when I hear it. Yes, even in the grocery store.
