This is just unacceptable in a democratic country like India. How can a judge give such senseless judgement!!! Cost of life is just Rs 72,500/- thats roughly $1200 Is that a joke??? a Criminal should be treated equally irrespective of their gender...just because she is *FEMALE* how can she be spared !! And what about the other female who lost her life in this road accident Basically a female doctor, whose car ran over another female and killed her, got away with just paying a meager amount instead of being jailed - the logic, she is FEMALE Increasingly judiciary is becoming a matter of joke in India[em]cry[/em Read detailed report here..

that is just so sad the family of the victim must be so angry... the culprit should have had life sentence is there any way to change the judgment?

I dont know...ideally the case needs to be pursued to High Court & then Supreme Court...if the judgement is given by local magistrate court...

I lost hope in the judiciary long time back. Remember the Jessica murder? Then the famous actor running his vehicle over people sleeping on roadsides? Then the recent rape cases in 1 in Delhi, 2 in Kerala, and many more. I just don't think our laws aren't enough.

@nomus24g just stop expecting from our laws. That's the only advice I can give you. Unless you have enough power and money, law won't bend for you.

I read the news. It can't be justified in any way. The doctor who was driving her car in high speed is the reason for accident and must deserve punishment. A professor or gender does not matter on doing mistakes. She may not be done the mistake intentionally but lack of care leads to the accident.
