Sharing my joy with mylot

Good evening to the mylot community. I just wanted to share my joy at getting a translation contract for 4 months. Now I am not getting paid for this but I do have a contract signed, sealed and delivered that I will be getting paid with royalties. I realise that royalties might not amount to very much if at all but I just wanted to prove to myself and possibly future clients that I can translate even though I do not have a certificate or that I am not a professional translator. The book is basically a medical book on a certain subject. I am not sure that I can mention the title or the website where I got the contract from. If anybody knows about mentions, please let me know. Also I am translating from English to French. The book is 580 pages long and I know for a fact that the french translation will probably amount to 680 pages long. So please wish me luck and patience and thank you for your attention.

if it's a medical book you are translating, did they require you to have a medical background? is royalty long-term than upfront one-time payment?

This requires lots of patience indeed. I remember doing English to French translation at school. Good luck

That would be a difficult thing to do. I am sure you can nail it.

Thank you Shavkat for the vote of confidence. I am having fun doing it even though sometimes I have to do research to find the perfect French word or connotation.
