“The nicest thing about the rain is that it always stops. Eventually.” A.A. Milne

It has been raining here off and on all day and night for a week and I'm sick of it. It can go away and leave me alone now. Not eventually! It isn't just a gentle rain but a angry rain that came down in buckets. My basement had flooded twice. When I say flooded, I mean the water is getting into the house and making a wet mess on the floor in the basement. The good thing about it; there is nothing on our floor except cement. Our basement is just that, a basement, laundry, lots of shelves for things saved, a pantry, camping supplies, winter skis and stuff. Two workspaces one for him and one for me. I also have a large art bench (a high bench about 15 feet long, with a high chair to do my painting on.) And drawers holding my paints, tools everything I use to paint A little water can't stop me. Fortunately we have a dehumidifier to keep it dry under normal conditions. We have called our fixit guy to see what is happening and to get it fixed. We've lived here for over 15 years and now it floods? The photo of the three tulips in a vase is there because the rain made then fall down so I picked them up. The other photos are my gardens in the front of the house. I have hundreds of tulips and daffodils, it is quite a site this spring. I'm still catching up and so happy you all are here so when I take a break I've got cyber friends to play with ! What's going on in your neck of the woods?

Thank you so much for those lovely pictures of your flowers. So good for the eyes! We have had rain and gloom for days too. Everyone is so sick of it. Did you see all the flooded places in the province of Quebec? I feel so bad for those people.

I did see it, it was awful and probably still is. I never knew Quebec could be hit with floods. My husband just left to go golfing for the day. He is happy to see the weather is going to be good today...fingers crossed.

Oh no flooding in the basement. I hope they will find the source and be able to put a stop to it Paints. If I was in your place, I don't think I would know myself with all the beauty surrounded by it there. Nothing going on here that I can mention. Good to see you and happy spring or sprung as it may be.

I love those beautiful flowers. This is the most rainy month of May that I can remember. I hope the rain will stop, eventually.

I am in the south of Germany. Rain here, too. But the daffodils and tulips don't bloom anymore. We'll see them again next year.

Pretty flowers Marilyn! See I could live with rain most days out of the year I think as long as I still went out and walked I think I would be ok--I just can't stand the hot weather at all--and as we head for summer, I cringe every year

@PainsOnSlate I would love a delightful summer---we are in the 80s and 90s for a lot of it--I just put on the fan and lie down on the floor and wait for it to be over

We lived in Kansas for mnay years - Kansas was hot all summer, not very enjoyable but up here in Canada and even in Upstate NY, the summer is usually delightful. Of course we get those sweaty days but not every day...Where we camp in NY there is occasionally a heat wave but we just spend a lot of time in the water...

That is one good thing about the weather that we've been experiencing, it brought out some beautiful flowers. I hope that your guy can figure out a cause for the water entering your home other then the fact that the ground is just so saturated that there is no place else for it to go. And thankfully, your work spaces down there don't sound like they would have been destroyed.

No damage at all in the basement, just a bit wet until we got rid of the water and turned on the dehumidifier. We have a fixit guy coming this week to check it out. It was the amount of water coming from the sky but we need to make sure it doesn't happen again.

So sorry you are one of the ones getting that awful rain. I'm sure you are sick of it. That rain plays havoc with my flowers. We have had a glorious spring in our neck of the woods and never a drop of water in our basement. However, we had to have a leaky pipe fixed last month.

Your tulips are beautiful. I'm sure you were surprised to have a flooded basement after all these years of living there. I hope it won't cost much to get it fixed and glad you didn't lose anything. We're dry here, a bit chilly, but that's about it.
