If you buy Aunt Jemima frozen products...stop!

A few days ago I came across an article in my news feed on FB (from my local news station) that said Aunt Jemima brand frozen waffles (as well as pancakes and toast) are being recalled because of a possible listeria contamination.
This is my favorite brand. And I buy it frequently. I was actually planning on buying a few packs before I came across that article. Now, I won't be doing that. I can't believe it. Now I will have to switch to another brand.
It seems like a lot of food products are being recalled these days, for one reason or another. What is happening?

I wonder why this is happening a lot. How are we supposed to buy and consume food when we don't know if it's safe to eat...?

@Courtlynn I wonder when I will be able to eat these waffles again... I guess will have to switch to another brand for now. Hope this issue with Aunt Jemima will get taken care of.
