Hot Pockets in the Middle of the Night

I have to get a blood test done later today, which I'm supposed to fast for. Since my test isn't until 1:30 p.m., that means I can't eat anything past 5:30 a.m. (since I have to fast for 8 hours beforehand.) After the blood test I have a pre-op appointment with the vein specialist I'm seeing for a procedure to shut down some bad veins in my legs. Thinking I'd be hungry and crabby if I hadn't eaten anything since dinner and then had to wait until afternoon to eat, I decided to have a middle of the night snack. Which resulted with me eating two Hot Pockets at 3 a.m. I think everyone can agree that eating Hot Pockets is always a regrettable decision to begin with. But two? And at 3:00 in the morning? I must be a glutton for punishment. So now I feel gross, but I guess at least I won't be hungry later. I just hope I don't get diarrhea! Here's a funny skit by Jim Gaffigan that pretty much sums up Hot Pockets:
Jim Gaffigan talks about Hot Pockets in this clip from his special and DVD, "Beyond the Pale". "Beyond the Pale available for download at jimgaffigan.com onl...

If you have such a low opinion of Hot Pockets, what are you doing having them in your house for middle of the night snacks? Good luck with your test and op.

The problem with hot pockets is they actually taste delicious but have regrettable consequences. It's kind of like buying stuff you know you shouldn't be eating but they taste good so you know it's not a wise choice but you can't seem to help yourself.

@BarBaraPrz Hahaha, what @sissy15 said! Normally I keep them on hand for lunch and don't eat them (or anything) in the middle of the night, but last night, alas, I made a regrettable decision. They actually taste good but my stomach sometimes hates me for eating them. :P

In don't actually know what a hot pocket is but I can imagine it's like a Pop Tart.

Hot pockets are actually not like pop tarts. Hot pockets are more of a lunchtime food. They are kind of like a sandwich that you microwave and have like pizza filling or other various meat or cheese fillings. They aren't the easiest to explain.

@boiboing @sissy15 did a good job of describing it. The first time I ever saw one, I thought it was some type of dessert that would have some kind of fruit filling, but no. I bit into it and it was full of cheese and meat and sauce.

@sissy15 I sing "Hot Pocket! Diarrhea Pocket!" in a high-pitched Jim Gaffigan voice everytime I wander down the Hot Pocket aisle in the grocery store.

When I need bloodwork, as I will need in a couple of weeks, I have to fast for 12 hours. So when I go to the lab, I always have a fresh cup of hot coffee with me so that as soon as they are done, I can at least have some coffee to wake my stomach up! Good luck with your tests!

@Srbageldog I do, too, although it's funny that I somehow get through the fasting for my blood tests but I have so much trouble fasting any other time!

@chrissbergstrom Yep, you're right. But I probably shouldn't make a habit out of eating Hot Pockets in the middle of the night!

@Srbageldog neither should I but I've been there to, hot pockets and burritos are just easy to make when hungry really late at night
