The Vampire lady is calling my name....

Abby....oh Abby.....I want your blood. I hear her calling me and I would like to tell her where to go, but I'll be nice. Tomorrow morning I have to go for blood work, just the usual six month doc visit. The last few times the Vampire lady was good, no bruising and no problem finding a vein. I hope I get that same Vampire tomorrow! I had one last year that left me with a bruise the size of a baseball and it hurt. For a treat we go out for breakfast after - that will be better because then I will hear pancakes calling my name...Abby oh Abby.... Photo from Pixabay

Hope the vampire is kind and painless - and that the pancakes are huge and yummy.

She used a very fine needle - no pain, one stab! Pancakes were hot and delish!

Abby drink a lot of water before you go.This will help the vein to pop up.

LOL... keep thinking about those pancakes!! And who knows, whoever is doing your blood work might be amazing with a new kind of needle that just has to touch the skin and out comes the blood. ;)

I have had my blood drawn a lot through out my life due to a time spent in the hospital. Because of that, today, it is harder for them to find big enough vein in my arms.

It happens with age, the veins get smaller it's common. My mother's arms always looked like a target they stried in so many spots to get blood.

One visit with the Vampire every 6 months is not bad. I have to go every week and have been doing this for the last 21 years.

Every week? I think I would run out of veins or blood.

My phlebotomist is fantastic and has her own fan club of elderly men who sit in the waiting area singing her praises.

This is something I hate, I only go once a year, just to check that there are no problems.

For some reason they have a problem getting blood from me. My veins hide or roll or something. Anyway I hope they didn't hurt you.

I am in next week for the regular check up. refill visit. It was supposed to be at the end of the month but Tony`s Doctors needs him two days before and if they keep him in the hospital I won`t leave him.

When I was pregnant with both my kids I had to do the 3 hour glucose test. 4 sticks over the course of 3 hours. With my now 5 year old, the person went through the vein on both arms! I bruised so badly. With my now 2 year old, the lady was great, but kept saying "I'm your friendly neighborhood vampire " and I was hangry and didn't think it was funny :(

I called the other one vampire lady by accident and she didn't think it was funny. I need to keep my mouth shut and my veins open!
