My Good Explanation

A few days ago my son had a loose tooth. It bothered him so much that he just wanted to have it taken out for him. As I wanted it to be out by itself, I came up with an explanation. I told him that the reason his loose tooth was still there because the tooth fairy didn't have any money just yet therefore she wanted him to leave it there until she had some money. It seemed to make sense to him so he agreed to leave it there, still complaining but no more asking for it to be taken out. This morning he came to my bedroom smiling. He asked me if I know what he was holding in his hand, then showed me his tooth. Finally the tooth was out, and it means that the tooth fairy now has to find some change for him. I was so proud of my good explanation for not having his tooth taken out when it was not ready. Have you ever come up with an explanation and proud of it?

This good explanation won't work for all children. Some of them are smarter than we think.

Your son is for sure an obedient one for having heeded you. Unfortunately all children are not similar

Yes, it did give tooth fairy more time to get the money ready for him...

This was a good idea of yours. I'm glad it worked and I hope the tooth fairy managed to find a few pennies for your son.

@atoz1to10 No more coins? Oh dear, no wonder the falling-out-of -the-tooth needed to be postponed.

I really like that excuse, it was innocent and cute. I remember the excuse I made to my nieces about my nose and lip piercings. She asked why I have them and I told her because I like them and she said, but it is scary, and I took them out and went "It is so I don't have to show the holes in my face" and she goes, "put them back in!"

Yes, it is always easier to give children excuses/explanations than adutls.

@YrNemo I think so. There was a time tooth fairy was so busy with her own problem that she forgot to come to my son picking up his tooth and left some money for him. Later on she had to buy him a XBox game to make up for it...

Did the tooth fairy make it to his room the night of? He may have been too excited to sleep. :) My sister was my tooth fairy. I don't have any kids, but when I do, we will have the tooth fairy talk also!

yes, his tooth fairy often comes at night when he is deeply asleep... My older sister's family doesn't have tooth fairy or santa claus... saving her heaps of money..
