Happy Birth Mother's Day!

Almost everyone knows that tomorrow is Mother's Day here in the US. But did you know that the day before is considered "Birth Mother's Day"?? It's a holiday for those of us who have kids, but give them up for adoption. Now some don't like this "holiday", because they say as long as you went through pregnancy and birth - you are a mother. Not just a birth mother. But others agree with this day, and say we are just a birth mother. And that we shouldn't be celebrated on actual mothers day. I personally happen to feel half and half. As some days I feel I am just a birth mom.. because my daughter isn't here for me to raise. But other days, I feel like I AM her mom. Period! Because I was there her first 3 months, and went to every visit I had with her, and did everything I was supoosed to to get her back. I was screwed out of being able to raise her. And everyone who knows me personally, knows that shes all I talk about and think about every day. But I also know that my case is different than those who gave their kids up on their own, whether due to drugs, being poor, or homeless.. etc. So I can also understand the day for them. What do you think? Do you think their should be two separate days for MOMS? Did you know about this day?

Some people would not be mothers at all if it were not for birth mothers, but I did not know about this day. I am sorry, I also did not know about your daughter.

I know your pain, I have gone through something very similar to yours. There are days where i feel that I am just her birth mother, and others when I am her mom. And then others when the pain is just way to much.

No I did not know about this day. I had no idea you have a daughter. I did not give birth to children but I raised several.

I've written about her a bit but not too much.. Ive helped raise about 20 kids in the last 14 years. As I started helping at age 10. Lol.

I'm so sorry for your situation. I can't judge this kind of holiday because I'm not a Mom, but I totally understand how you feel.
