A Tribute to My Mother

What I Liked About My Mother
Mother slept in every morning so I made my own breakfast and got myself off to school. This taught me responsibility in being on time for things I needed to do.
Mother left me alone when I was sick. I didn't see her the entire day. It gave me time to write. I started writing at the age of 8. This taught me independence.
Mother didn't drive and there was only one car in the family. When I needed to be somewhere, I took my bicycle or walked, again, this added to my independence.
Mother had the school system give me a series of IQ tests. My mother found out how smart I really was. This gave me self-assurance.
Mother chose my electives in high school. I learned I was good at cooking and sewing.
Mother was sick on the most important days of my life. This taught me how to be a good hostess.
Mother really did do a lot for me. I owe who I am to my mother.
Thanks for reading. I hope all mothers on myLot are having a wonderful Mother's Day.

I'm the same way when my kids are sick. I will check on them and give them whatever medicine needed to feel better, but I don't coddle them and mostly I tell them to just rest and try to sleep it off.

When my kids were sick, I checked on them all the time. I never left them completely alone.

@just4him Sometimes they are left alone if I'm working and they're home sick from school. At their ages I don't take time off if they're ill unless they need to see a doctor.

@katsmeow1213 I can understand that. My mother didn't work.

I've been trying to find something good about my mother and found there was something after all. Yes, I can cope in this world. Thank you.

This was beautiful. My mother was there for me, when I had gotten sick, broken a limb, or had surgery. My last one was heart surgery, 4.5 years, a few months before she had gotten sick for a whole year. She was also my champion in my writing career, my first beta reader/crit partner, and a great friend. Although we've fought over a couple of things, I had forgiven her in the end before I say goodbye. I still miss her to this day.

In a left handed sort of way. I was trying to be nice with this tribute. She wasn't the kind of mother a person would miss.

@celticeagle My mother wasn't a nice person and left me to my own ends. She didn't do anything for me. So your statement looked like you hadn't really read what she didn't do.

One did. The other two called or I called her. So it was a good day. Happy Mother's Day to you as well.

It is incredible that you can see the worth in what she did even if at the time, it might not have been comforting.

@just4him I know it was...but it is true. You turned out to wise and to love the Lord in spite of what she did and did not do.
