Family

Today was truly a family day. My nephew was here, happily watching the Red Sox (until he realized they were going to lose). It was nice having someone else here because the apartment has been way to quiet. I found a cute cartoon to message over to my niece. It was a Happy Mother's Day cartoon for a woman with a lot of cats. I hoped it would make her smile, despite her problems, and as we were waiting for my nephew to get picked up to go home, she did message me back, to thank me, see how her brother was doing, and to see how I survived the day. Once I got back up here, I called her and it seems that her day was horrendous. She has some major health problems and while she can still eat a little bit of food now and then, on weekends she's hooked up to a feeding tube to get the majority of her nutrition. During the week at work, she pretty much just doesn't eat. But her feeding tube somehow got knotted up and there she was, all alone trying to fix it. She finally did but she said the pain is excruciating. And my heart just broke. She and I get each other. Even though she has a great job making a lot of money and has her own home and car, we're both alone, for the most part. We love cats and since neither of us has ever had children of our own, our cats have become our children. And today, hearing how she was struggling to save herself, all alone, I realized how much we really do have in common. And I hate it But I love her, so that will make me reach out to her more to see how I can help. I'm going to see if she wants a visit later in the week. I'll go over there and hang out for a few hours to give her some company and maybe even cook her a meal, the way I used to when she was in medical school. I've felt disconnected from people for so long and that has really changed. I just hope all the clouds over us go away soon so we can, perhaps, find a way to have some fun. For now, it's all about love and comfort. That's what family should do. Claudia

I'm sure she would enjoy the company, but of course, it all depends on her health.

It's a great idea to pay her a visit and stay with her, I am sure she will appreciate. Sometimes we feel so much better if we can share our problems and our pains.

Seems to me that she's been keeping a lot inside because once we reconnected, she seemed very happy to be able to finally talk to someone about all she's going through. And I really had no idea.

@CRK109 Living alone not always allow to speak to someone we really trust. She now can finally talk to you.

Have you guys thought of living together, so that neither of you are alone and everything?

No we've never talked about that. I'm not sure if she would want anyone, including me, moving into her home.

@CRK109 maybe you should talk about it even if she says no. Just as a suggestion for her to make things easier for both of you.

It is very sad that she lives alone - especially seeing she has health problems.

She really wanted her own home and I know she loves it. But on days like today, she's finding out how difficult it really is. I just hope days like today are few and far between.
