My gratitude for the day

Before this, it would have been the air conditioner. I've heard that later this week, it's going to be in the 80-90 degree F here, and when the maintenance men found out I lived here all last summer with no a/c, they were impressed that I'm still alive! lol Well, they were finishing up when the guy who is the head of maintenance asked me, "So, you have a kitty?", and my heart sank. I told him that I'd had one until this past weekend. He sat down on my love seat and asked me what had happened and if I was okay. I couldn't believe it. He heard the story of Ruby and told me how sorry he was. His wife worked for an animal hospital for many years and he and his wife rescued many cats and kittens. They saved a pregnant cat who was going to be euthanized simply because the shelter no longer had room and they didn't want her and more kittens. He said at one point they had about 15 cats in their home. And I could not stop smiling. He's my kind of person. Before he left, he told me he's going to ask his wife about financial help for someone who should be able to get another cat. He said he felt awful for what Ruby and I had gone through and if there's any help they can find for me, they will. Can you imagine? I'm not sure what even made him ask me if I have a cat, although I guess there are still a couple of her toys on the floor, now that I look. He is my gratitude for today. Even if I'm not able to get another cat in the future, the fact that he sat down, listened to my story and felt my pain meant so much. I don't know if I've made a new friend in the building but I sure know that he has! Claudia

Kindness usually shows up if we look hard enough. I'm glad that Kindness snuck up on me this time to surprise me! Made my day so much better!

Thats so sweet. It probably was the toys.. i hope you are feeling better a bit because of those who care about you. And i hope one day, if you feel you can, you can help rescue some cats or kittens.

I never thought I would even want to rescue another feline after suffering this loss, but I seem to really want one now. I guess she gave me so much love that I want some more. She spoiled me!
