My first part : covered the topics/genres we are best at writing for. However, there could be topics which we either are bad at writing, or not interested in writing about, or just resist thinking about them. For me, romantic scenarios or Family dramas are something I do not relish. I once wrote a romantic angle story for a writing contest. It was ok as per my standards, but I think it lacked punch, as I was not very comfortable writing about it. Anything that you feel similarly about?
Well I have seen a lot of Mylot topics- news, life events, old memories, sports, economics, politics etc. There have been some discussions on Literature and...

Romance is a genre I have a hard time writing. I will also never write the horror genre. I am working on a romance, but it is difficult. I've already taken it outside the box of the normal romance formula.

I watch the show Legion, which is on hiatus right now. They all have special powers. The main character is deeply in love with a woman who cannot be touched yet their love grows and fulfills them. It is so sweet. It reminds me of the way love used to be depicted in TV, movies, and books, focusing on the emotional rather than the physical. I think that must have been hard to write convincingly for modern audiences.

I have trouble writing about technical things like computer programs, heating and cooling, anything technical. I can fake it but I really have no idea what I'm talking about. However, I've written many articles for websites and blogs on technical subjects and they are well received. I just don't understand what I'm writing!

@just4him I have seen that authors who are very good at writing romantic genres are able to write good drama but not very fluent at action or suspense kind of fiction. Even I am not very comfortable writing on romantic themes. @dragon54u Yes it must have been very tough to write about. Also, I think if you write short posts or blogs on technical subjects, its ok. However, for longer posts or articles, I would recommend that you choose topics that suit your interests.

@just4him Oh, in this sense, we match a lot. I too love writing suspense/action/spy kind of stories. One of them I am actively writing on another site.

@nawsheen may be you prefer shorter stuff- not everyone is keen to read tonnes and tonnes of fictional chapters!

I never write fantasy or science fiction. Or horror. They don't interest me and I have no interest in writing about such topics.

ok @Kandae11 even for me, writing horror would be tough. And I would not like to read it or even watch it.
