Blood Sucking Ticks!

Careful what you ask for! I have always wanted mild Winters because I am not a fan of the cold and wearing a ton of clothes. I got one, but I also asked for one. Yeah I know, like God would do what I wanted. Well maybe. I was at the hospital or going to a doctors office from November till mid March so it was all good with me when the temps stayed warm. Anyways back to my subject, Ticks. I removed ticks from the cat in April and did the treatments for both dogs and the cat. I have had ticks crawling on me, I would toss them in the toilet. But while fishing on Sunday I went to natures bathroom, behind a bush in the woods, and when I got back in the boat I had a tiny tick crawling on my arm, fish food! The grass is grown up right now and when I walk the dogs I am sure to wear long pants. Well yesterday I walked the dogs and came in, changed out of the sweats and sat in my chair. Later I seen something on my leg, on the side of my calf. A full size tick, in my skin. I took a pair of tweezers, twisted my leg to see it and pulled it out, tossed it into the toilet. That spot bled! This morning its puffy so I will mention that to the doctor today, I have a check up. I may have wanted a mild winter but I got an infestation of ticks and mosquitoes everywhere I go. Careful what you ask for! Ever had a tick bite?

There is now a more deadly strain called Ontario tick disease. Ugh!

We have ticks here but I don't think they are quite as lethal as yours. Certainly the spots itch for ages.

@andriaperry I usually put a band-aid on them as it helps stop me scratching - and the darn things weep for ages.

Yes long ago and that was on a fishing trip too with my parents. Here once the rain starts then we have to be on look out for leeches too.

I'm sorry to hear this news. Mosquitoes are a big problem in this area. No tick bites and reading your post would be painful.

Luckily, no. Lucky, considering all the mountain biking and hiking I've done.

I can't stand blood sucking insects. one more reason why I don't have pets they might infest.

I've never had one personally but I've had to pull a couple out of my dog even though he gets regular treatment to prevent them. I hate ticks they creep me out!
