My dishwasher is dead!

A couple of days ago, Leticia told me that my dishwasher leaked water when it was washing. I called the technician today and he pronounced it dead. The dishwasher is older than Methuselah. I think it is at least 25 years old, poor thing. The only part that could be doing that was the pump, but there are no available parts for a dishwasher that is so old. Everything is discontinued. I paid the man for the visit and decided that from now on we would wah the dishes by hand. I live alone and it is absurd to buy a very expensive gadget to wash a couple of dishes. Only once a year do I have lots of dishes: for my birthday. And when I talked to Leticia about my decition, I remembered that I could buy disposable dishes and all I needed for that day. Still this was not the best morning in my life. Other things happened too. But for now, I´ll have a nap to forget it all.

I am sorry to hear that. But your dishwasher did work for a long time already. I think there were no dishwashers here 25 years ago. If you find it inconvenient, perhaps you can consider buy a second hand dishwasher?

@prashu228 I think we may even have to buy another new set of bowls, plates for the dishwasher.

I decided not to buy a dishwasher. I live alone with Leticia helping me. Only once a year do I invite a lot of people

You will get used to it Margi. I never really got used to letting the Dishwasher doing all the work. What I did enjoy was the finish on the plates the nice clean smell and the warmth that came out when you opened up the door of the dishwasher. Sorry about your Dishwasher.

I knew it was a matter of months. I used it more when we were a family and the girls brought friends. When I became a widow, I even gave my dryer to my eldest daughter. Now I wash clothes when the sun shines and I bought more underwear just in case

@lovinangelsinstead21 This diswasher is so old that there are no replacements for the pieces. It would cost me a lot and I´m already paying Leticia to do little.

@marguicha I was having to scrape the plates and everything clean and then soak them in hot soapy water too to move all the stuff and then put them in the Dishwasher otherwise it would not do anything hardly. But I did love the gadget whilst I had it. Afterwards the top of it I used like an encimera. Well what else was I going to do with it?

My husband bought it before my back surgery as I was in much pain. Now I don´t really need another one.

The only time I ever used a dishwasher was when I had the organic farm and made jams & jellies along with canned veggies @marguicha . The canning jars and lids had to be bacteria-free so extremely hot water was necessary. Other than that, I have always washed dishes by hand.
