I'm with Michael, a good stack of firewood and food in the cupboards is my definition of security. Unfortunately I don't know how much a chord of wood is, it's not a unit that's used over here. I'll have to look it up.

@amadeo If you have the space it makes good sense to buy it in advance and season it for a couple of years!

I like a man who thinks ahead and is prepared. I'd rather be reading, or something!

I love playing Tennis but I have to play a one sided tennis game most of the time. Still I can have fun hope you do too. I never liked stacking wood as I was the one who did all the work and I mean everything like cleaning out the grate, chopping the wood Starting up the fire with wood and paper and then coal. Margi is right its more fun playing Tennis.

That is smart he does that, time goes by quick and can easily get behind on stuff like that. It also helps he enjoys it, so us athletic types can play sports instead.

He is great Michael always ahead of the pack. Yes it makes sense to have it dried for winter time Fredo. I am so glad it has warmed for you there to get out and do things outside.

@amadeo LOL, I know how you feel, we used to burn wood and my hubby was the strong one who insisted that the wood was stacked and piled a certain way. And he always had a special stack of sweet wood-cherry or apple, and we'd burn that around the holidays to have that nice scent in the house.

Michael is right, if the wood is not dry it produces smoke Green wood is less expensive, let it dry.

I think planning ahead is a good idea. A lot of times they raise the price when they know people are getting down to the wire. It also gives it plenty of time to dry.

@amadeo I miss having a fire, but its usually not cold enough here to bother. I buy a little bundle of wood for Christmas but that's about it.

There is no harm in stacking too early. Time will pass soon. Maybe he just don't want to do when the weather is cold outside.
