The sky in late afternoon

Due to the severe weather the concert we were going to has been completely cancelled. There are no do overs. School is out. We had already made up our mind to stay safe and be at home this evening. I have friends from Oklahoma clear to Iowa who have been posting about the weather. We are all talking about it, but we just cannot do anything about it. At least the storms held back until after three in the afternoon. Our kids got to have their Field Day. This is how the sky has looked all afternoon and evening.

Smart call to cancel. I've been watching severe weather coverage online from Oklahoma and Kansas all night.

I think school districts are getting smarter all of the time.

@FourWalls A smart person or entity recognizes something as painful and seeks to avoid it. Avoiding lawsuits is good.

@GardenGerty -- truthfully, not so much "smarter" as "afraid of lawsuits."

I kind of got in a hurry to get back to Hutch with the kids after lunch but had they been in school still we still would have made it back here before the worst of the storm....that happened about 6 pm while I was finishing supper.

You just never can tell. I am glad Heather is prepared to that you could do this easily. At one point between three and four I was driving and it was raining so hard I needed to pull over.

Yes, I was astonished at how quick it went from looking bad to actually being bad. Stay safe!

You and I so often have similar weather. It rained, thundered and had lightning all night here in Kansas.

I need to investigate getting a storm shelter as there is really no place to go here in town.

Yes, it is a shame, but it is important to pay attention to the weather.

I saw on Weather Nation how severe the weather and tornado warnings are in your part of the country. KC is going to be pounded.

I had a friend coming through there on a train during the storm. She posted pictures.
