Which Do You Do First?

I started my morning off with the usual routine but decided to vacuum my bedroom before I came downstairs. I decided not to dust while up there as I was definitely ready for my coffee. I remember having this discussion with my friend awhile ago and she says she always dusts before she vacuums. I do just the opposite. My theory is that when you vacuum you spread dust around and once the vacuuming is done then it's time to dust. Do you have a routine that you do when it comes to dusting and vacuuming?

Not really Marilyn. I just do what I feel like doing.

I read somewhere you should dust first and do the floors last. I do a bit of both depending on my 'whim'.

I rarely do both on the same day. The days of being able to clean the whole house in one day are long gone. Now I clean in spurts

@Marilynda1225 That's how I tackle it too.

My husband does the vacuuming so I never know when he will do it, so there is no plan. When I lived alone I dusted then vac. since I didn't want to walk all over my freshly vacuumed rugs!

Seems many do dust before vacuuming. Maybe I need to rethink my approach

My cleaning lady is here right now. She, and all I've had before her, dust first, then vacuum. Same with my mother and the cleaning ladies she had.

Guess I do things backwards. If a professional is doing it the opposite of me maybe I should rethink my efforts

@Marilynda1225 It doesn't matter. The house gets dusty in 5 minutes anyway.

@Marilynda1225 Some say that when you dust the dust goes on the floor, I use a product and the dust sticks on the rug, but when I vacuum I see that some dusts "flies" in the room from the floor and, even worse, from the carpet.

I vacuum first, then dust because I like vacuuming better than dusting.

I hate dusting so I guess maybe that's why I vacuum before I dust.

I always do an entire cleaning with vacuuming last. While cleaning, dust and bits can fall to the floor which means having to vacuum again.

I say always dust first because the dust falls to the ground and then you can vavumn it up . I just dusted fans and let the dust from the fans fall to the floor in the office where i work so then i swept the floor and i just finished moping in most areas. I beleive that would be the same as for dusting and vacuuming.

Makes sense even though I seem to do things opposite

Do dusting before vaccum...bec...dusting removes maximum solid waste in less effort that may jam the vaccum line. The vaccum pressuring is enough to suck in all dust later.

If my husband vacuums, then I end up dusting. If he doesn't vacuum, then I just do one or the other. Then wait a while and do the other thing.
