To Kiss a Pig

As part of National Children's Book Week our librarian made a promise to the kids. If the entire school could read 23,000 minutes this week, our principal would kiss a pig. I have included a Pixabay free image of piglets that resemble the one he kissed. Yes, that is right, the kids did it. They read lots of minutes. In addition, as a surprise, the teacher whose students read the most minutes ALSO got to kiss the pig. She came out, put on lip gloss and held the baby and kissed him. I am sure the principal knew this was going on, but the kids and staff made a great show of keeping it a secret. Just one more out of the ordinary thing on the last day of school this year.

I know!! That is why I had to find an image. These are a lot like the one he kissed. I was expecting a pink piglet or maybe a white with black spots.

Oh, how fun for the kids and a great way to get them to read. I'd not mind kissing a cute little piglet.

He was cute, all wrapped up in a blanket. Boy, he squealed when the principal handed him over to the teacher. He looked about the size of a human baby. Last month the speech teacher brought a baby lamb to school. Rural Kansas, gotta love it.

This image said these are wild piglets, but the pig we had had the dark hair with light stripes, so I chose this image. The kids got the reward of seeing the principal and teacher kiss a pig. When I first started the school for some reason the kids won the privilege of seeing the principal duct taped to a wall!!

The ones in the image from pixabay are supposed to be wild. The coloring is similar to the one that came to school and that is why I chose this image.. Unfortunately they did not tell us what the breed was. I will have to go research, I suppose.

@GardenGerty don't worry :-) but they looked unusual with their stripes. Even our wild pigs don't have stripes.

Yes, this is a free image, but the one we had at school looked similar. I never thought of pigs as having protective coloring.

Last fall they duct taped him to a wall for some kind of incentive. It was like my first week working because I started late.
