Dinner For One

United States
May 20, 2017 5:10pm CST
Tonight I'm cooking for myself as my daughter went out with her friends to celebrate her birthday (which was last Sunday). I wasn't going to cook and just have a bowl of cereal or a sandwich but I got hungry and decided why not cook for myself. So, I'm grilling up a hamburger and having side of onion rings. Since I have the house to myself tonight I'm going to check Netflix for a good movie and enjoy some popcorn while I chill out. Do you or would you cook just for yourself?

No it's not much fun and I'm hardly ever alone. By the time all my children moved out and were married my mom couldn't live on her own so she came to live with me and now my youngest daughter has moved back home.

Cooking for someone else is always more fun but the older I get the lazier I get in the kitchen.

That sounds so good! I'm glad you treated yourself to a real meal. I can't remember the last time I just cooked for myself, but a burger, onion rings and Netflix sounds like heaven! lol

I cooked for myself tonight: ground turkey sauteed with red bell pepper, onion, garlic, and spinach. It wasn't bad. Let us know if you find anything on Netflix worth recommending.

I saw that on Netflix but haven't watched it. Maybe I should put it on my list of things to watch.

I would cook for myself but I'd probably need to be a bit hungry.

Every day. Some people think it's a waste of time to cook for one, but it's a way of life for me now. I don't even think about it anymore.

I guess I would cook for myself too if I lived alone. I don't even know why I asked this question because I cook every night anyway.

@Marilynda1225 I know a lot of people who live alone and either dine out regularly, order in or just eat whatever is around rather than cook for just themselves. It's a real question.

Guess I would cook for just myself too and maybe I was just in a funk last night. I've been cooking for so many years maybe my subconscious is telling me to take a vacation

I always did when my husband was traveling alone. I cook simpler dishes than when he is at home.

I did for 16 years, I made dinner every night. I think cooking is therapeutic especially for single people.

I never bother cooking for myself when I'm alone. I love Netflix for certain shows, but love Amazon Prime, too. Hope you enjoyed your evening alone!
