Let's build a sand castle!

United States
May 21, 2017 1:46am CST
While sightseeing the other day, we also took a stroll along the beach. We were lucky to catch some castles built by The Sandcastle Man. We didn't see him physically but the castles were beautiful to look at. When you go to the beach, what do you usually do? When I was younger, I liked playing in the sand - I could never be buried in the sand though. I like to bring an umbrella, towels and lay on the sand and just enjoy the wind, breeze and smell of the ocean plus some snacks.

I don't have a beach in my city. It is only when I go for a vacation to any coastal area then I get access to beach. With the limited time I have all I want is to sit there on a couch and keep looking at the sea for hours

In lieu of the beach you can go to hotels and enjoy the pools there.

I love to walk the beach and let the water splash on my legs. If the water is not too cold I will go in a little ways to let the water cool me off on a hot day. Rare are my visits to the beach because of the 3 1/2 drive it takes to get there. But, once there I put up my umbrella, sit in my lazy chair, slather myself with sunscreen and relax.

@infatuatedbby my first trip is going to be in June with my sister, sister-in-law, and niece. We will probably have to bring my granddaughter too. Maybe I should bring my oldest daughter to help watch her.

Spending pretty much my entire life growing up on the beach, or living near the beach, I've never mastered the art of sandcastle building. I just don't have that creative or artistic talent in me. I'm good at digging holes on the beach though! Does that count for anything? Maybe I could be the moat builder around some of those fine sandcastles! haha I used to love getting buried in the sand. It was always so much fun trying to get out, and dodge all the seagulls who want to come peck at your head! haha

I totally forgot about digging holes. I'd do that, but I'd never be the one to go in the holes & be covered up. I hate being buried the thought of it and my what if thoughts, no no =) I have no artistic skills in me so I wouldn't be a good sand castle builder, but the dude makes good money! $300-1,000 + depending on the size.

@moffittjc Hahahha, I am not very good at achieving the perfect little san castle from those buckets either. We're on the same boat

@infatuatedbby I've always admired the artistic ability of these sculptors who can create masterpieces out of sand. I wish I had the talent to do half the work they can do! But you know how you can fill a little plastic bucket up with sand, pack it in tightly, and then flip it upside down and remove the bucket so that you have the beginnings of a little sand castle? Yeah, I can't even do that without messing it up! lol

Some of these people are very clever aren't they? I get bored pretty quickly when making sand castles but some people are very creative.

I also like playing in the sand when we go to the beach. Since it is not easy to swim in the ocean But we are not good at making the sand castle. Usually we just dig a very huge hole

I've seen some magnificent sandcastles and it takes a lot of talent and patience to create these works of art. For me and my children (and now grandchildren) our sandcastle building requires a pail and shovel (not much ingenuity but lots of fun)

@infatuatedbby Definitely in Florida! The beaches here are Long Island Sound. Not as nice as the ocean. The Pacific is a lot rougher.

We hardly went to the beach growing up, and even now. As none of us like salt water. But we do go sit on the beach to watch the july 4th fireworks.

I love some of the sand castles and sculptures I have seen. I go to the beach often because I live in a lake community, it even has sand. I usually swim and hang out in a chair. I used to love boogie boarding in the ocean when I was younger..but these days I think I might look ridiculous..besides unless the water is really warm..I won't stay in the ocean for long.

Before, I used to like going to the beach, stay there for a couple of hours. Feel the heat that comes from the wind. And when I got sick, I don't like going to the beach anymore. I don't like the heat of the sun on my skin and the heat that comes from the wind. It makes me feel weak and uneasy.

Its a fast commute for me so its okay, and I like to be under an umbrella to stay away from the heat. =) I don't like to be in the hot sun either.
