I just read that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Tom Hanks have announced they will run for President and Vice President in 2020. The only concern they have is that, based on the current occupant of the White House, they may be vastly overqualified for the job. Of course, the announcement was made on Saturday Night Live as part of Johnson's induction into the Five Timers' Club. The Five Timers' Club is made up of celebrities who have hosted the show 5 times or more. I just wonder if the announcement was purely tongue in cheek, or if Johnson was kidding on the square. It would make for in interesting campaign season if the two of them actually made a bid for the White House. Would you consider voting for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson for President?

I'm sure he'd be glad to get your vote for that reason. He does seem to have a genuine smile, doesn't he? Not a phony, used car salesman smile like DT.

@DWDavis Oh yes, and behind that smile, he does take no crap from anyone. He seems very genuine yes.

I wish the Dems had run Biden in place of Hillary. I think Joe could have beaten DT. Hillary, despite her qualifications for the job, just was not a likeable person. Biden is an everyman and I think he would have made a big dent in Trump's numbers among the Deplorables.

I just might I suppose that I'd have to learn a bit more about his way of thinking.

From what little I've read about him, Johnson puts more thought into what to have for breakfast than DT puts into anything he says.

With your experience dealing with childish behavior of large groups (being a teacher) you would certainly know how to handle Congress.

@DianneN Wasn't it Calvin Coolidge who said, "If nominated I will not run, if elected I will not serve?" I'd only be President if I could spend all my time at Camp David. Is Camp David even open anymore?

I don't know if I'd actually vote for "The Rock" but nothing would surprise me when it comes to those saying they would run in the next election. I'd vote for Dwayne before I'd vote for Kanye West

I wouldn't vote for Kanye West no matter who he was running against.

Like he said, he might be overqualified. But yea, I would seriously consider anyone at this moment, in spite of my hopes that Trump might do a 180 but that is blind optimism on my part.

Trump will be what he has always been, a huckster, a show-boater, a con-man, and a cheater.

Tom Hank's co-star in Castaway, Wilson the Volleyball, would be better than Trump.

I'm afraid I don't even know who he is but I've certainly heard and watched Tom Hanks in many films.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was a professional wrassler who turned to film making. He's made many adventure films and has appeared in the Fast and Furious franchise.

It would not be the first actor to get in the white house.

No, but he would be the first to go straight from acting to President. Reagan had a lot of experience governing before he ran for the White House. I don't count DT's reality TV time as acting. He wasn't acting. That's how he really is.

Arnold Schwarzenegger was a surprise entrant into politics - and he made it. Ronald Reagan became President, so you never know.

I think if he'd been eligible, Arnold would have run for President. Ronald Reagan was a two term governor of California before running for President so he had the experience of governing what, if it were an independent country, would have ranked in the top 10 in the world. I would like to see Dwayne Johnson run. Outside his movie and wrasslin' persona, he seems like a level headed and intelligent bloke who makes well thought out choices.

I am not a huge Dwayne Johnson fan but Tom Hanks is one of my faves and I have seen a lot of his movies.

Dwayne Johnson has impressed me much more with what I've learned about how he is off screen than I have been by his performance onscreen.
