The price of avocados

Maybe it is just here, but has anyone else noticed the price of avocados have gone up significantly? I am not sure if it is the law of supply and demand,,or some kind of weather problem affecting them, or if retailers realize they can charge more them, but they seem to have nearly doubled in price over the course of a year. Last year I could get one for .99 now most stores seem to want like 1.89 for one! I am going to try to buy them in bulk at Aldi's or Costco I think. They are really good for you, and taste great!

BJ's isn't really close by. If I go to a warehouse club it is Costco. I do have like a 3 month trial membership for BJ's though.

@Courtlynn It does, but I used to go to BJ's sometimes when I lived close to one. I prefer Costco.

Oh I love avocados especially when you mix it with creamy milk and ice..taste soooo goood..hmmm..same here, gone up high..I think because it is still not its season.

@snowy22315 They also are so small and hard here it is really useless to buy them. I don't know what happend as around 5 years ago, the quality has really gone downhill while prices rise.

Oh I wish I could find some for .90. Sometimes the store in town has them cheap, but they are always over or under ripe.

@snowy22315 Tomorrow I go grocery shopping and I will buy several. I wrap the under ripe in newspaper and let them out on the kitchen counter until they are ripe.

They grow them here, but as far as I know it is only on the West Coast, and maybe Arizona. I have never seen them in Fla.although I guess it is a possibility.

I love avocados. And I think they are making it the fruit of the year now maybe that's why the price is getting high too.
