Looking for leftovers.

Today, while we had some coffee and melted cheese sandwichs, Leticia told me very angry that although she was the main provider at her home, the rest of the people there would not eat food that had been cooked the day before and placed in the refrigerator. Her granddaughters, 19, said that the "old" food smelled bad and yet prepared an amount of food that was too much for them. Yesterday, they had leftover mashed potatoes. They said that they would not eat it and went away. Leticia turned the potatoes into gnochi and served ot with a leftover frozen tomato sauce that the girls would not have eaten either of they knew that it was not "fresh". I use most of my leftovers and most of the time the second time is much better than the first. How about you? Do you use your leftovers?

Yes of course. If I had kids saying no to leftovers, they would starve then.

Leticia doesn´t fight. She just waits until noone is near and does her magic.

Ha ha! Good for her! I eat leftovers all the time. It is usually good when I have a leftover that is not enough portion to make a meal with I use them in eggs and make an omelet.

That's very wasteful considering there are a lot of people going hungry with nothing to eat. I don't mind eating leftovers.

I always tell whoever is in the house with me, if they don't want to eat what's been cooked, they're on their own. My youngest in the house is 16. The rest are grown and as far as I'm concerned they can feed themselves. I eat lots of leftovers.

I agree. I live alone now, but my daughter does that. Today she was in a great back pain and even 6 year old Sofía helped with the dinner.

@cmoneyspinner They like to cook when they are that young but get bored with it when they are in their teens

You mean you don´t eat them or you mean you don´t leave anything in the pot?

We always eat leftovers but I know some young people who throw out anything that isn't actually eaten at the meal.Such a waste. It's obvious they've never been hungry and probably don't ever expect to be.

I do not prepare in excess of what is required for the day. Everything will be prepared fresh. If by chance, anything becomes in excess I keep it and use it for the other day. This is not a bad idea.

I try to eat it the same day too. But if it doesn´t happen, I will do something else with it.

We use our leftovers as much as we can. Although I also have a two day rule that if it isn't used by the second day that I will throw it away because I make at least one meal just about every single day and so we usually have leftovers every night and it would get crowded if i kept it longer than that.

Some dishes can be kept for a longer time. Rice stays good covered and in the refrigerator for over a week.
