I’ve been reading about and commenting on fidget spinners saying I hadn’t heard of or seen them here in Western Australia. Well, guess what? This morning I was in our supermarket and right there at the checkout are fidget spinners. It’s nice to know we’re up to date with all the latest stuff. And I don’t like putting up such short posts so what else can I tell you? Maybe that I was in town to get a flu shot before we go away. And maybe that Vince made six litres of pumpkin soup for a special day at his golf club. We used one and a half of our Japanese pumpkins. I like the really rich orange colour. It tasted pretty good too.

My son has a fidget spinner, and I have to tell you, I really like playing with it! I think I need to get me one just so I have something to play with in my spare time. {who am I kidding, I don't ever have any spare time!}

@JudyEv You just spin them and stare at them. It's quite hypnotic! And then when you're done watching it spin, you pick it up and throw it at someone as hard as you can, hoping to hit them square in the forehead. And that's how you feel relaxed!

@moffittjc Well, I know I didn't ask for information about them but any time I do need information - about anything - I'll remember not to ask you! Throw it at someone's forehead indeed! Hhmmm ... I think it would hurt more if you connected with the shin.

I don't even know what you do with them! Just watched some YouTube but I'm not much wiser.

I know very well what fidget spinners are . I don't get it, but apparently it's all the rage. I hadn't bought our kids one (but of course they've been begging us) but then my oldest actually received one from the school as a token for her having perfect attendance. Oh, you used kabocha pumpkins . . . you said "our", do you grow them?

@JudyEv Oh yes . . . it seems all the kids around here are obsessed with those spinny things. Yes, they do go around and around, but kids have to realize they do not make the world go 'round . I'm sure this disease will spread sooner or later . The kabocha is my mom's favorite - but they have never tried to grow any themselves.

I guess it's good that you didn't have to buy your daughter one and yes, they do seem to be all the rage. I planted three or four seedling pumpkins some time ago. Mostly I grow butternut but this time I had the two varieties.

I didn't notice the 'glare' first time around but there are quite a few comments from others who have never heard of them.

@Nawsheen That's a shame. Once they are planted they don't take a lot of looking after which is good as I don't look after them much!

I have a fidget cube, given by my son. So when I can't think of what to write, I use it! How do you make pumpkin soup?

Much like mashed pumpkin but thinner! Sorry, couldn't help making a joke. It's basically just cut up pumpkin, perhaps an onion and a potato, all boiled till they're soft then blended. If you make it nice and thick you can add a little milk which makes it tastier.

My oldest daughter has one, we got it at the flea market for $4. She was interested for about a week. Now it's sitting on her dresser collecting dust. All of ours share it because we are not buying more to collect dust!

These fads often don't last very long do they? It's good if your kids will share it.

@JudyEv I searched and they look like a sort of those stress-relieving toys that usually make me mad.

@JudyEv I have always hated the Rubik's cube and I think I have never been able to solve it.

@LadyDuck Yes, that's them. Remember the Rubic cube? That was another stress-creator too.

It's nice to know WA is up to date on the latest fad. Some things are a must before traveling. I made pumpkin soup once, not long ago, and it was interesting.

They have them at the convience store by our house. I haven't checked in town yet- but everytime I log on to ebay there is an add at the top of my page. They still seem pretty useless to me. Pumpkin soup sounds good.

I saw fridge spinners on sale in many stores, but what are they for ? I saw kids playing with them (spinning them on their fingers), but is that all?

I think that's all they do with them. Maybe it stops them getting bored or whatever. I've really no idea what they're for - just something to do maybe - like yoyos or hula hoops or whatever.
