Day 256 Proverbs 23:27 Proverbs 23:27 For a whore is a deep ditch; and a strange woman is a narrow pit. 28 She also lies in wait as for a prey, and increases the transgressors among men. 29 Who hath woe? Who hath sorrow? Who hath contentions? Who hath babbling? Who hath wounds without cause? Who hath redness of eyes? 30 They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. 31 Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it gives his color in the cup, when it moves itself aright. 32 At the last it bites like a serpent, and stings like an adder. 33 Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. 34 Yea, thou shalt be as he that lies down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lies upon the top of a mast. 35 They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again. The world seems focused on two things: sex and alcohol. Most commercials you see allure your mind with both – scantily clad women with an alcoholic beverage in her hand. Solomon showed what the allure of women do for a man, causing them to lose all judgment so that they are unaware of where they are or the dangers they face. He said women prey on men, leading them with sweet words, but their sting is like the bite of a snake. Men go willingly to the slaughter, wanting as much as she will give him, with no thought about his life. As Christians, you need to be aware of all the schemes of the devil. He will lure you with honeyed words, just as an alluring woman who leads a man on, promising the world, but striking your heart when you least expect. In the Lord’s prayer, Jesus said, Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Jesus knew the temptations Satan will tempt you with, as he was also tempted, but he resisted. We also need to resist Satan’s temptations, and walk away from him whenever he comes calling. As new Christians, it’s sometimes hard to give up what you had, but when you remember where you were and where you are now, it becomes easier to resist Satan’s temptations. The best way to do that is to have a consistent prayer life. When temptation comes your way, pray, and God will show you the way out. You do not need a life bound by the chains of this world. You can live a victorious life in Jesus Christ. God says to call on him when you are in trouble and he will come to your aid. Psalm 56:2 Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High. 3 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. 9 When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me. 10 In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word. 11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me. (KJV) God will fight for you. He will come to your aid. He will destroy your enemies. Remember, when Satan wants to strike, Jesus already did, defeating him on the cross. Remind him of his defeat, and take Jesus’ hand, and he will lead you where you should go. Let’s pray: Father, help me see Satan’s traps, his lies, his schemes, and help me trust you to lead me in the way I need to go, resisting Satan, knowing he was defeated on Calvary’s cross. In Jesus’ name, I pray, amen. Copyright © 23 May 2017 by Valerie Routhieaux Image courtesy of Pixabay

Temptations are everywhere - and some can be very hard to resist.

Yes they can, which is why we need discernment and God's help to resist them.

I hope people will see Satan's traps. But some will not. Good bible study.
