I Said I Would But Will I?

I promised myself that when spring arrived I'd clean out my closet, organize it and donate all the clothes I don't wear. Well, I guess I didn't take myself seriously because summer is right around the corner and I haven't done a darn thing to clean out my closet. Every day I look in there (it's a walk in) and feel overwhelmed. Although my walk in still offers the walk in without stuff being piled on the floor I just have too much stuff. I swear gremlins started piling stuff in my closet when there was nowhere else to put it. I know I didn't have this much stuff in there when I moved here 7 years ago. Yesterday I decided I needed more hangers. Then I realized that I don't need more hangers I just need to get rid of the clothes I don't wear and I'll have plenty of hangers for the newer stuff. My biggest problem is that when I come downstairs to have my coffee I don't feel like going back upstairs and the closet is far from my mind. Guess my solution is to start it before I come downstairs for coffee every morning and at least I'll feel better if I make a dent (even if it's a small one). Do you have a project that you keep putting off?

I cannot seem to make up my mind to finish my spring cleaning. Now of course we have also started working on our garden. So now when I sit at my PC I am already so tired all I want to do is sleep. I suggest waking up going down getting a steaming cup of coffee and quickly carrying upstairs taking a sip and starting on that closet.

I know I'll feel a huge sense of accomplishment once I get this ungodly task done. Like your suggestion of bringing my coffee upstairs while I work on that closet

I am sure you will find the will and the way to do it one day. Today is not the day. There is always tomorrow, or the next day!

Not only do I have clothes but I have stacks of books, crates with papers that need to be shredded, and all sorts of things that can easily be discarded. Maybe I'll wake up tomorrow with a burst of energy and can get it started

I put off all plans for projects. I did sneak up slowly on some of my clothes situation last Monday. i had some stacking baskets I painted and repurposed to sort my pants, you know, shorts, capris, leggings, etc. I have a tiny pile of donations in my bedroom. It could tolerate being bigger and I would never miss the clothes at all.

I really need to clean my closet too, you can't walk in there and your supposed to be able to. Lol. I am wanting to do more craft projects but it takes money to make it so I am at a stand still on that for now, but that's not by my choice. =(

I have a whole big crate of yarn just waiting for me to crochet something. I spent the money but never made anything so all my dreams of crocheting got railroaded somehow. I need to get back on track. I hear you when you say that money is tight and I remember how I struggled when my children were young.

Yes, I do have a few projects that are postponed and postponed again and again. Our bedrooms are upstairs too and I have to come down for my coffee first thing in the morning. Same situation than yours.

My knees hate the stairs so once I come down in the morning I hate going back up. I'm feeling old and decrepit lately.

I am guilty of procrastination for what concern getting rid of old clothes. My closets are full of things that I do not wear anymore and I made the mistake to buy more hangers.

Many and most are due to Tony`s health problems. I too have the walk in closet on my list and I did do a little, but Tony`s to little clothing is still hanging. I noticed I have more new stuff hanging than I have been wearing so I need to get back to dressing up better :)

At least you have a valid excuse (Tony) to not get around to your closet. I don't have any excuse except the imaginary ones I create myself

I try my best to stop doing that. I find it is much better to "get it over with".

I used to be so on top of things but this past year I've become a slacker. I need to kick myself in the pants and get back to getting things done. Good for you for keeping on top of things

Yes, many projects are just waiting for us to get busy! Seems it is easy to put off what is behind closed doors @Marilynda1225

I have a similar closet problem but it is only because I would rather be outside when the weather is nice, and perhaps because I can't bear to get rid of the excess stuff.

I have lots of little projects to get to, but no big deal. I could use some more hangers, too. I need some for my purses in the closet. They seem to be in every corner of the bedroom for some odd reason. Next time I get to Walmart I'll pick up a few!

Here's a way to start. Tell yourself you can't have coffee until you get rid of five things or whatever number- and do this everyday and it will be done in a week!

Yes, I still don't have all my pictures in albums and I need to thin out my linen closet.
