Hope All My Friends from the Philippines Are OK

I'm reading about Martial Law being declared in the south of the Philippines because of extremist violence by those affiliated with ISIS groups. Can any of my MyLot friends tell me what's really going on and what you think about it? I hope all of you in the Philippines are OK. Have any of you been affected by all this personally?

Martial Law was declared in Mindanao which is the southern most island of the country. The Maute Group which is associated with ISIS took siege of some parts of Marawi City. I haven't been personally affected but it pains to see innocent civilians being adversely affected by terrorism.

@bagarad the extremists are the least of our worries. The imposition of martial law is the one that worries most of the country. We have been there before, we do not want to have martial law again. Martial law is not the answer to curb terrorism. Martial law in itself is a form of terrorism!

When I see what's happening in other countries, I feel very privileged to have lived all my life so far in peace. I hope it continues, but so far the US is not immune to these attacks, either.

My family and relatives are okay. Our place is very far from Marawi City. My friends there told me that they feel safer that Martial Law is put up in our Mindanao island.
