Roger Moore died today in Switzerland. He was 89. He was knighted by the queen. Played Bond seven times and later played The Saint on tv. In his retiring years he was an ambassador for UNICEF. He was quite the man.

I remember him as a very handsome Ivanhoe in the 1950's. He was a very nice man.

I didn't see that. Yes, he is very handsome. But, had so much more going for him too.

@celticeagle though he had 4 wives and didn't seem to be too kind to any except perhaps the last.

He would be well missed from Hollywood. He had a nice long life and marriage with Ann-Margret.

Roger along with Sean Connery were in my opinions the best actor to play the role of 007 James Bond for us baby boomers. Sir Roger will be missed beyond words.

How sad. It's like the end of an era. All the Bond fans have been posting about him on FB today.

Have they. Yes, it is a big change. I don't care much for the new guy who has taken over the Bond role. None of the Bond characteristics I thought of apply to him. Sort of lost my interest over the past few years. I think of him more as a Conners or Moore type.

@celticeagle It was difficult to accept anyone after Sean Connery left the role but I've managed to see most of the movies and just think of them as action movies now.

In fact he is my favorite James Bond. He was so charming. In fact I was still quite shocked to hear this news last night. I just don't know that he is 89 years old already. He looked younger.

I was upset about one thing yesterday and then I learned about his passing. I have always been a great fan of his always. R.I.P. Roger Moore.

Me too. Sad that they are passing. We are lucky to have films to watch and remember them by though.

@celticeagle I always loved that expression of his when he looked up at that halo. Lovely man for sure.

I did also. Moore had something. I didn't find it so much the look of a star. More GQish.

The Saint, to me, is his defining role, and what I'll always remember him for.

I will mostly. I did enjoy him as Bond but it wasn't him. Sean will always be Bond in my book.

He was indeed quite a man. I can't recall seeing the Saint series but now I will be sure to look for them.
