*The effect of dating too much---

---is having loose motions. This was the effect of my eating 5 pieces of dates yesterday. This morning, I felt my stomach rumble, so I immediately relieved myself in the bathroom. My motions were soft. So, I did the volume per volume replacement by drinking water of the same quantity as with what I brought out. This is usually what we encourage our clients when they have acute gastroenteritis—volume per volume replacement. When I was preparing the rice, I felt that discomfort again, so I went to the bathroom. The character was semi-loose motions. Again, I drank a 500 ml of water to replace the loss. Then after I washed the dogs’ dishes, i went there, and then drank again. This time, it was semi-watery motions. I do not take any anti-diarrheal medications like Loperamide or Attapulgite. I don’t even take an anti-spasmodic like Hyoscine N-Butylbromide; I just replace the loss with water. How do you manage loose motions? Do you take medicine, or go to the doctor?

When at home, I just let it be and drink lots of water. I don't drink medication. But if ever I felt it at the office, I would after two goings to the bathroom, take medication.

I stop eating dates. [em]rofl[/em I have taken some anti diarrheals. They were more necessary when I was going thru radiation. I do drink water all the time.

indeed, my friend. last night, i wanted to take even just 1, but then, i remembered about my stomach discomfort. yes, i think loose motions is one side effect of radiation, along with anorexia.

@minx267 well, maintain that some, my friend. when you work in graveyard shifts, the fats might be lost anyhow.

@Nawsheen bananas are rich in potassium, a mineral/electrolyte that is usually lost in loose motions. there are some types of bananas that are laxatives, while some are stool hardeners.

Hope you're well. I had rushed to the washroom/comfort while in the office. I don't know why I experienced the sudden pain.

@ridingbet not really. I think I need to eat 3x a day. I miss one meal daily because of my schedule. I will try to eat biscuits during breaks.

@jobelbojel my son has his masteral classes again since it is Saturday. i reminded him to bring even just a pack of biscuits to eat while in the class (it is permitted anyway). we must not let our stomach be empty of food to digest even while we have loose motions.

sometimes, the coconut water is a substitute for the ORS. but unluckily, no peddler sells coconuts now, here.

I rarely or never take medication, besides rehydrating with water I figure out a way to replace essential electrolytes that are lost especially potassium so I eat bananas. At times I dissolve hydrite in my water, it contains electrolytes, it's like oral dextrose. I also avoid fatty foods.

hydrite, oresol ORS, pedialyte, or even gatorade, are good substitutes for the intravenous fluids. i manage myself with water and banana, and i am feeling great now.

@prashu228 true. but for me, i would rather go to the comfort room than having my motions fall down on the floor, as what a former student now my colleague, posted on FB; the lady was dressed so beautifully (backless and high-heels) but her loose motions were scattered from where she walked.

yes, it is better to take medicine when you are at work, because it will be distressing if every now and then, you go to the comfort room.

When I was younger (after leaving the seminary) I dated so much. Girl there, girl here, girl under. I never had diarrhea but exhausted all the time. Wait, I think you are talking about another kind of "dating" . . Let me go over your post again.

My whole life I have used my grandmother's solution. A bit of cinnamon mixed with water to make it into a paste, paste swallowed not chewed with a bit of milk. Works great and it's natural.

It's mostly ORS and other home remedies for me at first. But if it doesn't get controlled in a day, i surely go to a doctor.

thank you, but still, even doctors, nurses, and other members of the medical field, need assistance and supervision from others as well.
