Trump Never Had to Be on Food Stamps

I just love his new Budget Ideas, don't you? Let's see....he's going to cut Low Income Heating Assistance, Medicaid, Social Security Disability and Snap (food stamps). What he ought to do is actually put together a team of people to look into how many people (including illegal aliens) don't need to be on these programs. That would cut several million all by itself. I'm sure that as a bonified American Citizen, my $16 for food stamps (SNAP) will be gone; not to mention my help with the heating bills. So I guess it will be back to standing on the street corner in a Mini Skirt, Tube Top and High Heels to be my new Assistance Program. It will be called: The MSTTHH Program.
President Donald Trump's 2018 budget includes sweeping cuts to programs for low-income Americans, including entitlements that he promised to protect as a candidate, while boosting defense spending and lowering taxes. It also assumes a level of economic gro

I guess the only thing I can think of is - he better not touch Medicare or Social Security. If you remember in his pre pres days he swore he would not touch medicare, medicaid or SS. The budget has to be approved and hopefully someone with some brains will rethink this.

One thing many don't realize is the ones with the brains and common sense, not to mention COMPASSION, in the House and Senate are currently in the minority so if enough Republicans vote for the cuts Agent Orange will sign it and people will be hurt, many will actually DIE if Trumpcare 2.0 gets passed.

Oh yeah, I remember what he said too @AbbyGreenhill . If he messes with Medicare or SS you can bet there would be thousands standing at his door step. It does scare me though that the majority of Congress has never had to do without either but hopefully there'd be enough of them to use common sense.

I don't think and I hope this does not go into force. It is vital to keep those programs.

It's bad enough that I only get $16 a month in food stamps. Well gee, there goes my: box of cereal, loaf of bread and a gallon of milk @jstory07 . For the heating help, I guess when it gets down to 30 degrees I can always curl up with the cats for warmth.

You should start your MSTTHH Program in the summer months so that you've got some $$ in your piggy bank for winter.

I hope you don't have to go back to the "A Girl's Gotta Do What a Girl's Gotta Do" (AGGDWGGD) program thanks to Trump. High heels are hard on the ankles.

I think your idea is best before making any cuts. I know there is a LOT of abuse of these programs. I would also like him to cut non-essential things like research programs that the private sector could very well pay for and profit from. Remember when the government paid for a study to determine why gay males were leaner than lesbians? Who could that possibly benefit?! Or how a shrimp managed a treadmill? What a waste of money. He could also cut non-essential programs like---I really hate to say this---grants to the arts. Until this country's debt and budget and deficit is under control and our grandkids aren't in debt before they are born, we need to cut costs to the bone and let the private sector assume some responsibility if they want those programs.

@nanette64 I don't understand why it is so hard for politicians to see that. Except that those grants get them votes and that's what it's all about. I'd never make public office. I'm a conservative who has had too much fun in my life, the media would tear me to pieces!

Though I've never gotten assistance of any kind and I know there is abuse, I believe in fixing things, not hurting folks who really need the help.

I'd really, really like to see care for the poor back in the hands of the churches (where it was for centuries prior to the Great Depression). It's a lot easier to deal with compassionate individuals than cold, heartless bureaucrats. I also think the assistance should be local. I read a report that said about 70c of every dollar spent on these programs stays in Washington, feeding the federal government instead of the people who need the help. Let the churches take care of people again, and we won't have that problem. And I completely agree that they could easily save tens, if not hundreds of millions of dollars by simply getting rid of people who don't need to be on assistance. Remember the story about the lottery winner who was collecting food stamps after winning? AND saw no problem with it???

One of my homeless kid clients has been staying (with his family) at church-sponsored indoor "tent cities" for the past two months. I agree that the church should be involved. But they (my kid's family) have to move every two weeks, so the stress of not knowing continues.

@CoralLevang Yup. My normal weight was 130. Spinal injuries couldn't support the weight. (Osteopina of the spine and Osteoporosis of the hips). COPD has stolen the oxygen from the muscle and fat cells. Severe Calcium deficiency. I was 5'11" but collapsed and fractured vertebrae (spousal abuse) caused problems as well. I'm a mess.
