I'm In a New York State of Mind

My daughter travels to New York twice a week for work and there is an Italian restaurant nearby where we used to live.
As a BIG surprised she brought home dinner for the two of us....chicken parmesan and lasagna roll ups (which are just single lasagna noodles with the same ricotta and mozzarella fillings). She also brought a nice big loaf of NY Italian bread (which we can't get here in Pennsylvania) which goes perfectly with our dinner.
Tonight I'm feasting on a wonderful New York dinner and gosh I missed NY food so much.
This certainly was/is a treat and wish I could share it with all of you
It was a very busy day for me today so I appreciated not having to cook but I really didn't have time to myLot. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to catch up a bit here.
How was your day?

I miss NJ food - but no desire to go there and get any! Glad you got some good NY food!

@Marilynda1225 Yes, we are 14 hours from where we lived in NJ. That's a little far even for a god bagel or Thumann's cold cuts!

Since mine was delivered it was wonderful but I wouldn't miss it enough to drive there and get it myself. Of course I am a wee bit closer to NY than you are so my trip wouldn't be a long as yours would be.

Yum NY bagels! I get them every once in awhile too when my daughter brings them home. I miss so much about NY food but love living a more quiet country life now that I'm retired. I can certainly understand how busy you are and that you have little time for myLotting. As long as you pop in and out to let us know you're still alive

@Marilynda1225 You are lucky your daughter can pick up anything you want. I love living in my little quiet town, too, but at least we can go to NY when we want. That is if the traffic isn't horrendous! We have to visit our sis in law, but will take the Westside Highway rather than that rotten Major Degan and FDR Drive. It was awful last weekend.

@Marilynda1225 In the south of Italy they use mozzarella, but lasagne are from the north and the original recipes only use Parmesan cheese, white sauce and meat sauce. Cannelloni can be stuffed with different ingredients, usually ricotta and spinach, but also a meat sauce.

What do you layer your lasagna with? We use ricotta, mozzarella as the fillings but usually it's baked whole in a large lasagna pan. These are just the same except each one is rolled up and looks like a pinwheel. You're probably right that it's more like cannelloni but the locals here call them roll ups.

I love Billy Joel and NY State of Mind is a favorite. Guess I was channeling Billy Joel when I wrote my post

That is nice. I think she will bear in mind your favorite food when she goes to New York in the following week.
it is not as if she has to check in a lot of luggage, and that bringing the food incur a lot of extra charges!
It sure makes a lot of difference when she can get home in time with dinner for you.
