Western music is one art I could never learn to enjoy, this may be because whatever I listened I felt them loud and at high pitch relative to our Indian music. Few songs I liked, and Bob Dylan I liked most -thanks to being named Nobel laureate in literature which then blew in the wind the opportunity for me to discover him as treasure. There must be many I could equally like but so far I am deprived of the pleasure because I do not know. Unlike music I am much closer to English literature. I love Dickens most, and Pygmalion I read when I was 14 and enjoyed then to extent of choosing phonetics as my career and marrying flower girl of a nearby flower shop.
I think the taste of music and dance are more indigenous than of literature ,what you say? I do not know how many of you have heard pure Indian song. I am posting the link of one my favourite song here. Interested to know what you feel about :

This is lovely, I can savor the song and dance to this too. It is very nice.
I must look for translation however.
I like the story in the video
This is utterly charming.

I enjoy the sound of Indian music too like I enjoy other oriental songs even though I don't understand the lyrics ...
But of course I understand why you prefer Indian songs over others since you probably grew up listening to them .. Like me growing up in the Philippines, I used to think that there is nothing like the Filipino songs .. I thought they were the best..

It is understandable coming from a different culture. We in the west can't get into your Bollywood music. Literature usually transcends cultural barriers.
