This week started off kind of rough. First on Monday night while my husband and I where trying to cook dinner we heard a rush of water. Both of ran in directions. My husband went to the basement to turn off water I ran to the living room and up stairs to make sure no water was coming from the top level. Turns out due to the hydrat being flushed finally the pipe to the water going out to the water heater bursted. A crack the size of my hand which isn't very big but big each to make a good flood of water. After my husband cursing left and right turning the water off, cleaning up which took about 10-15 minutes since we tunes it off quickly. Called my husband grandparents to let them know. We got on the horn right away to a Plummer to come out the next day. So we spend the night with cold water and the water being off. The next day we waited all day for the Plummer to show up which he didn't get to us till about 6pm. We where told that the pipe that broke had been patched before so the guy wasn't going to patch it again because it would be dangerious which is understandable. He told us that the water heater is original to the house its 31 years old. So we are glade that just a piped broke from that old sucker. Once he told my husband and talked to my husband grandparents over the phone about he price they told him not that $1,500-$2,000 was way to much for a new water heater which is the best and safest fix. Over all that price is correct for current day water heater and labor fees. They said they could get us once for $500 from one of the hard ware stores so they did and we picked it up on Wednesday. My husband talked to his mom and she had a friend that is a Plummer and could do the work for us for a lower rate. She said she would cover the coast. Day three is when we finally got hot water and could turn everything back on. Kids and not hot water is never good. Thankfully the guy was nice enough to come out and do the work for us on short noticed. Yay to hot water and now all three of my kids can hot baths vs one getting a hot bath, one warm and one cold bath.

No one wants to face plumbing issues! Imagine those places where people live without water in their homes? How do they do it-

I know how they deal with it. Once we went three months with no water. It was about 5 years ago and I was pregnant and had just my oldest at the time. We went to my husband's grandparents house and filled containers of water to wash dishes and stuff

@ShyBear88 The cost of getting anything repaired makes it almost impossible for some!
