I felt annoyed to fill out a survey last night

Last night my son passed me several pages of survey and he got it from the school. We needed to fill it out. Since it is from school, of course I will pay more attention to it since I am always a nice parent.
There are many private information. It's OK for me to write down my husband and my height, weight, age etc. However, I doubted why they also needed our waist and hip circumference. Besides, I am also honest to fill up our family health data, such as my parents and parents-in-law have high blood pressure and my mother-in-law is a diabetic.
Now I found maybe I should not be so honest to fill out our private information because this survey is not for school. Somewhat the school passes to us to fill it up so that the surveys will be finished well.
I hate today some companies take advantage of the schools to make projects.

I think some surveys are optional?

@youless That's strange
I know when I was in school, some are optional. It's just tricky to know which ones are optional.
Even forums now a days at the hospital - some are optional to fill out. But they include it anyway.

Lol, you do they need your hip and waist measurements. We should not be honest in such surveys. I guess it's not from school

If it is not for the school I might not fill it out. The school might have you fill out a survey to get your views and opinion. They are doing one here right now because they plan on changing the schedule next year and want our views as a community. Which I think is great. So, I guess it would depend on the reasoning behind the survey as to whether I would fill it out or not.

You should enquire further the purpose and source intended for the survey. Schools should never allow commercial companies to gather critical information from both the students and parents. If you are uncomfortable with it please do not hesitate to file a inquiry with the education authorities. Like you, the school has no business conducting this sensitive information survey unless it is in conjunction with the health authorities.

Since you also come from China, perhaps you will understand if it is not necessary, we will not make troubles to teachers and schools. We always want to co-operate with them well so that our children may have a easier time in school. And I really feel annoyed that today so many companies co-operate with schools so that they can have business easily. Such as having the eyes check but eventually they will ask you to have a better check in a hospital and then buy glasses there. There are so many cases like that.

I understand what you mean like those extra classes and personal services like health checks and products. But since I can choose not to purchase or participate, I am really fine with it. However if some survey is like what you say, I would prefer not to participate and would leave those sensitive questions unanswered due to privacy.

I wonder why they need all that information. I hate to fill out things that they need personal information.
