the age of entitlement

May 26, 2017 1:17am CST
I have just heard my first ridiculous one-sided conversation of the day. I say one-sided because I heard no response from whomsoever the lady was ranting to, and then no further words from her so she obviously wasn't on the phone. This is what she said, I kid you not. Manchester United and Manchester City {football - proper - clubs} are giving one thousand, nah, one million pounds to the victims of Monday's attack. What about me? My mum died two months ago and I didn't get nothing, I didn't. I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry.

I am assuming that this was on your daily bus journey. No doubt several others heard her and there were some privately raised eyebrows (and perhaps the odd agreement) but that nobody actually said anything. I hate to think what might have ensued if everyone had said what they were thinking!

@Poppylicious Imagine if the bus was like myLot and everyone chipped in with their thoughts and observations! You'd probably all have ended up paying her fare!

Yes, on the bus. She was behind me ... I probably should have made that clear! I hope I wasn't the only one who thought it was a bit odd.

I am not sure if to laugh or cry too, her mother surely was not killed in a terrorist attack. My goodness, people are weird.

True. The thing is, I sort of understood what she was saying. But it's not something you say out loud at a time like this. I saw her when she got off the bus; she had a miserable and sour face, the kind that says, I moan about everything and am never happy with anything! Some people attract misery!

She is very bitter and blind with rage that someone else in this world would get some help. RIP her Mother.

Absolutely. I'm terribly sorry she lost her mum, but the circumstances must have been completely different. I suppose grief can make people think irrationally.
