Yes, I will. My 12 years old nephew will celebrate with the family tomorrow. My nieces are already asking me to bake Schwarzwäldertorte aka black forest cake for the party. Besides black forest, I will make another one. I have read from a blogging friends brownie recipe the other day and I will try this.
So my weekend will be spend in a neighboring country. With my Filipino family. This will be fun as I have not seen the new babies of my nieces, yet. I am already eager to cuddle them.
What kind of cake would you love to have for your birthday party?
Until then. I am baking after this post. Enjoy your weekend!

I love black forest although our family is not so much into baking, we simply buy Red Ribbon or Goldilocks ( most popular in our country) I'm not picky either and would gobble up any cake and I love eating the sugar flower decorations Happy birthday to your nephew.

@hereandthere when I was a kid Jonis's sold mostly meat rolls and " empanada" thru a small outlet called Manel's in Malate Manila, Manel's would later on grow to become the world renowned Menel's leather.

we buy cakes, too, but i now seek out lesser known but still affordable brands.
when we were kids, birthday cakes came from joni's bakeshop. the icing, lettering and flowers are so different from the cakes today.

@louievill I bought cakes too at Goldilocks or Red Ribbon until I knew how to bake myself. That was more than 3 decades ago. I am not fond of sweet.

i remember when we finally saw my cousin's grandchild. we all wanted to cuddle and play with her. any cake that's coffee flavored and crunchy would be my preference. what grade in school is your nephew?

I love a good black forest cake! I didn't have a cake for my birthday and plan to buy a slice at the grocery this weekend! I will buy a coconut cake though.

Tony had a birthday while in the hospital and the staff had him a small cake baked, but he could not eat it because of diabetes. Black forest cake sounds SO yummy.
