My dog loves to follow me around the house

I have tow dogs, and one doesn't follow me, and the other one does. I don't mind it to much, but on the other hand, it is annoying when she follows me into the bathroom. It seems like she has to know where I am at all the time, when I am home. I certainly don't need her watching me when I dress or undress, as she lays in her bed and waits on me.. One way I avoid her followning me to the bathroom, is to shut the bedroom door, so that she can't come in there, as my bathroom is off my bedroom. I love her, but I certainly don't want her to follow me all the time. It does get annoying, that is for sure. She has pretty much been doing it since I lost my first dog 5 years ago. I think she will go looking for her in the bedroom, and that is why she is always following me. I think maybe she senses that Happy isn't here anymore, so she compensates for her sadness, by following me around. I guess I will just have to deal with it as that is the type of dog she is, and she goes through withdrawal and needs me there for her. When I lost my first dog, I was devastaed and I ot over it, but I guess dogs never really do.

@celticeagle It sure is and that is the best kind, as with all my faults, they love me regardless, which makes them better than some people.

Animals know when they are loved and taken care of, so they want to repay their owners by always being there. That is good too, as they won't argue with me, or talk back and want the last word.

Not being an animal, I guess I just never understood their mind thought and I have to accept it the way it is.

@Courtlynn I kniow, it sure is. If only I could get her to stay where she is at, but no, she just has to come and see what i am doing. It is like she is going to miss something if she doesn't follow me.

We put up with a lot from our pets, and we would understand more if they could talk.

@Hatley Animal are really smart though, as they sense things more than we do. Tlhey can tell when a person is lll and not feeling well. It is almost like they have a sixth sense.

I think you are lucky to have such a God. You are right. I think she misses Happy. If you don't mind what's her name?

@rosekiss oh that's sad. I guess that is the reason she is following you. She misses Happy

@Nawsheen That is what I am thinking too. She must still be grieving for her, as she will go into the bedroom and look for her, and when she can't find her, she goes to other rooms of the house to see where she is. I guess I didn't realize that she feels the way she does Now, I certainly understand why she follows me around.

The dog I am talking about is a pom and her name is Buttercup. I bourght her when I still had Happy, as I wanted her to have a playmate, and they were very good buddies, and I think she is still trying to figure out why she doesn't see her anymore.

It is good to a crtain extent, but in other ways it is annoying too, as if I go to the bathroom, she will follow me there too. I certainly don't need her to watch me go potty.

I don't close my bathroom door and Buttercup will stand right at the edge of the bathroom and bedroom, and just watch me. It is funny in a way, and annoying in other ways. I have learned to deal with it, as I have to, as I am sure she will continue to follow me, as she has over 5 years now.

@rosekiss indeed, you are her dedicated fur-mother, my dear. i hope the 3 puppies won't do that to me, because we are 3 here at home anyway.

I think you are right, the dog is following you because she is missing Happy. Dogs have no way to communicate their emotions.

No, they certainly don't. She knows she isn't there, and can't figure out where she went, so she just follows me around to make sure that nothing happens to me either.

@LadyDuck Mine are just that. I would be lost without them, as they brighten up my day sometimes, and make me laugh at them sometimes. I do everything I can to make sure they are well fed and cared for.

Maybe she just likes to know where you are and feels comforted that you're around. She probably doesn't understand where Happy is

No, she doesm't. She knows that she was here, and now she isn't. She evidently, still misses her. I know I do a lot as I raised her from a 7 weeek old puppy. Butterrcup gets along quite well with Sarah, as it does help with the loneliness of not having Happy as a friend.

That is quite possible. I really never thought of it that way. She has taught me a lot of love over the years. She loves me as she wants to make sure that I am okay, and maybe that is why she follows me around as she does.

Haha... My dog does the same thing.

They feel more secure when we are around and they can see where we are at all times.
