Diary Saturday 27th May 2017 My first full day without my main computer was a living hell. Having accidentally left it at the community centre I was led to think it could not now be returned to me until Tuesday by which time I’d be clawing the walls and gibbering. I went to the library to do my job search there, as I need to do several hours of that daily even at weekend and ban holidays. It was very hot out so I got an ice-cream which was melting a fast a I could eat it. I used a poor quality android system tablet computer with a lousy keyboard to do some writing at home but my progress was very slow. I got a message from a member of staff from the community centre that a group were using one room there, though she wasn’t sure if they would have access to the locked staff-office where my computer was now resting. I went along though she was right, the people using one of the community areas had no keys to the main office area. I came home, struggled on with the tablet, watched TV and went to bed. Diary Sunday 28th May 2017 I used the tablet for a while and got an e-mail alert to a radio interview opportunity for Monday morning relating to my pub sign collection and talks. I have to be up very early tomorrow for the 7.30 am interview but I can always sleep more later in the day. Later I got an unexpected message online from another community staff member. She was visiting the area and had a key to the office where my computer was being kept. I could meet her there and get it back. I rushed to the appointment right away with much gratitude. I feel like an addict who just got a fix after going cold turkey. A huge thank you to the community centre staff. Arthur Chappell

I can understand your frustration, I would also be lost without my main computer. I am glad the community centre staff was so helpful.

That's great that you got your computer back earlier than expected. There are people that would've just made you wait.

@teamfreak16 no one was trying to make thing bad or awkward for me - it's just that in leaving it stored in a centre closed for several days it caused me quite a serious crisis but everyone has meant well for me throughout this

How nice to have it back. I know how you must feel. I have gone on my daughter's computer and it is awful compared to having your own.

I honestly have no idea how we survived in pre-Internet days!

We only realise how attached we are to our computers, when they go missing, or break down.We are left hanging in mid air!
