Just In Time

Well, it looks like I mowed the front lawn just in time as the big clouds are coming in now as announced on TV. It is difficult to find the right time to do the lawn these days as we have had rain on most days. Very annoying. The grass is growing like crazy, so it doubles the work. I have a corded electric lawnmower but thinking of getting a battery one instead. I waste way too much time fighting with the cords. Anyone with experience with the battery lawnmower?

I have a gas lawnmower and I am very happy with it, it's 17 years old and does a great job. I have not seen battery lawnmowers here, except those small robots, we have one and it's not good at all.

@marlina I have no problem with mine but I am very upset with the small robot, those little things cost a lot. I have to find someone who wants to buy it.

Sorry, we have a gas-powered lawnmower, and I don't even know how to start it. I'm sure that other members will be able to offer you some sound advise on this. We had 3 thunderstorms blow thru here last night over the course of about 90 minutes. Today on my way home I noticed a big black cloud over the city, and then the roads were wet just outside of the city. I stopped at the asparagus farm and the farmer told me that they just had 3 minutes of tiny hail during a downpour. He grows strawberries, which will be ready in a couple of weeks, and told me that since they are green and hard, they were unharmed. Thankfully!!!

We had a gas lawnmower before and I hurt my neck using it, so never, never again, I will touch those kinds.

@marlina Until we moved a couple of months ago we had a big rider because of the size of our yard, but now we just have a regular push mower.

I don't have any experience with those. I wish we would get some rain though. We were supposed to but of course it's bright and sunny outside. UGH.

@Tampa_girl7 When we had our first house, the lawn was very tiny in Toronto, and we did have a push mower then.

@marlina we do and we did have a push mower. I want another. It only requires sharp blades. No gas, battery or electricity.

@Marty1 Sometimes I call the guy who does the lawn when not feeling good enough. But I kind of enjoy doing it myself.

Yes, and the battery lawnmowers have some concerns too, but not as much as the ones with a cord it would seem @marlina

I have such a small garden and our gated community has a garden service, so thank goodness I don't have to struggle with a mower. @marlina , it is good you beat those clouds. :)

I've only had the gas engine push mower. I hope the battery one will be better for you.

A friend of mine has one and she loves it. I tried to talk my husband into one, but he's dragging his feet.

That is the thing I dislike most about spring/summer, the weather is so pleasant but for the extra work with the lawns and weeding.

We bought a battery operated lawn mower when we moved here The first time it takes awhile to charge up the battery but after that it does not take as long.

Getting the lawn mowed can be tricky when it keeps raining. I don't mow so I have no knowledge of battery ones

No I haven't. I'm sure they must be available by now, although I reckon it will be quite cumbersome if it has a large heavy battery!

My husband is a gas powered kind of guy. Can you send some of that rain down our way? We are kind of dry down here.

we had an electric lawnmower from UK, but it is now inoperable. we have the manual lawnmower for 2 years now, and the grass in our garden is growing tall, that it needs a trim, tomorrow.
